(Fatherland) - On November 1, at the Palace Hotel - Vung Tau City, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism coordinated with the People's Committee of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province to organize the "Conference on implementing the investigation of tourism resources in 2024". The country has more than 40,000 relics and nearly 70,000 intangible cultural heritages that have been inventoried. Of these, 32 heritages have been recognized by UNESCO; 128 special national relics have been ranked by the Prime Minister ; 3,621 national relics; 11,232 provincial relics; 534 intangible cultural heritages have been included in the National Intangible Cultural Heritage List. However, Deputy Minister Ho An Phong acknowledged that despite possessing extremely rich natural resources, the investigation, assessment and classification of tourism resources nationwide has not yet been carried out systematically, uniformly and thoroughly.
According to Deputy Minister Ho An Phong, the investigation of tourism resources is an important task with a wide scope of implementation nationwide. Organizing the investigation of tourism resources aims to form a tourism resource database system, serving the management, planning, development of tourism products and tourist areas and destinations nationwide.
"The 2017 Tourism Law has detailed regulations on tourism resource investigation. Therefore, it is necessary to comprehensively deploy, implement methodically and in detail for each locality and each type of resource to create a database for long-term use" - Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ho An Phong emphasized.
The conference was attended by more than 200 delegates who are officials, managers, and experts in charge of tourism from the Departments of Tourism and Culture, Sports, and Tourism of 43 provinces and cities across the country. (Photo: Dang Khoa)
At the Conference, the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism deployed a master plan for tourism resource investigation, including: Objects, assessment criteria, scope, plan, and time for investigation...
Along with that, the delegates discussed and contributed opinions on related issues such as: Classification of resource categories, survey forms; set of evaluation criteria; implementation methods and roadmap.... At the same time, it was proposed that there should be a unified guiding document on the budget framework and common implementation process so that the provinces have a basis to make a plan to advise the Provincial People's Committee to approve as a legal basis.

Sharing at the Conference, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province Le Ngoc Khanh expressed his honor to be chosen by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism as the locality to organize the Conference on implementing the tourism resource survey in 2024 and happily welcomed delegates from more than 43 provinces and cities across the country to attend the Conference.
According to the Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province, this is an opportunity for the locality to be trained and guided on the investigation, assessment and classification of tourism resources. From there, a systematic tourism resource database system will be formed to serve the management, planning, development of tourism products, and development of tourist areas and destinations.
Previously, on October 31, the Department of Tourism of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province also chaired a field survey of tourism resources at destinations in the province including: Dinh Co historical and cultural relic site, Minh Dam historical base relic site and Binh Chau hot mineral spring. The survey team included more than 200 officials, managers and specialists in charge of tourism from the Department of Tourism and the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism nationwide.

The survey team focused on three main groups of indicators: general information about tourism resources (name, location, scope, land area in use, management and usage entities); current status of exploitation and use of tourism resources; characteristics, properties, and values of tourism resources. The field survey of the above destinations is a pilot step to evaluate the set of criteria, plans, technical information requirements, information collection procedures, and resource classification.
