Clean road, no waste
Responding to the peak campaign "Cleaning up household waste and greening vacant land" launched by the Provincial People's Committee, since April, localities in the province have been actively maintaining the collection, transportation, and treatment of waste combined with planting trees to keep the environment and landscape green - clean - beautiful.
Many people and students participated in collecting garbage and cleaning the environment in Cao Thuong town (Tan Yen). |
Lang Giang district is a locality that has done a good job in collecting, transporting, treating garbage and planting trees. According to Mr. Nghiem Phu Son, Head of the district's Department of Agriculture and Environment, local people currently discharge nearly 100 tons of household waste every day. The amount of waste is quite large, so to limit the accumulation, along with urging communes and towns to do a good job of collecting and treating garbage periodically 2-3 times a week, the district requires communes and towns to increase propaganda and mobilize people to collect garbage on "Green Saturday and Sunday" every week.
Since April, in response to the campaign, many localities in the district have mobilized people to regularly clean village roads. In the communes of Tuan Dao, Yen Dinh, Long Son, Vinh An, Dai Son, An Chau town (Son Dong), in response to the campaign, local people have actively collected garbage, planted and cared for a number of flower roads. According to the representative of the Son Dong District Women's Union, up to now, the district has 98 flower roads planted and cared for by the Women's Union branches.
Similarly, in response to the above campaign, Tan Yen, Luc Nam districts and Viet Yen town also directed communes, wards and towns to actively collect waste, plant and take care of trees. Hop Duc commune (Tan Yen) mobilized all people to plant and take care of flowers and trees along the roadside during the holidays of April 30 and May 1... Or in Tam Di commune (Luc Nam), people gathered to collect waste left on Yen Lai canal, clean up waste left on the roadside of Ha Phu 12 village and plant many trees.
Continuous maintenance
In recent years, environmental protection in the province has always received the attention of the entire political system and achieved many positive results. However, in the province, there is still a situation of littering and dumping waste in the wrong places, and the general cleaning movement in villages, residential groups, and residential areas has not been maintained regularly. The collection , transportation, and treatment of domestic waste in some places is still limited, and waste generation and accumulation still occur.
Since the beginning of the year, localities have cleared dozens of garbage storage spots along roadsides and canals, many of which have been newly planted with trees. The rate of waste treated in the province is about 97.1% of the total amount of waste collected. |
Faced with the above reality, last April, the Provincial People's Committee issued a Plan to launch a peak campaign "Cleaning up household waste and greening vacant land" in the province, from April 20 to June 20 this year and maintaining it regularly in the following period. Mr. Vu Van Tuong, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment, said that the campaign was carried out to mobilize all people to participate in cleaning up garbage, cleaning village roads, alleys, residential areas, and residential groups; collecting garbage in canals and ditches; handling illegal spontaneous garbage dumping points. At the same time, regularly maintain the general environmental sanitation movement on Saturdays and Green Sundays every week; check vacant land and wasteland that need to be renovated to plant trees, limit garbage collection, etc.
To effectively implement the campaign, the Provincial People's Committee organized a launch in Cao Thuong town (Tan Yen) with the participation of a large number of people, students, businesses, production and business establishments, representatives of leaders of departments, branches, People's Committees of districts, towns, cities... Here, people were instructed to classify waste at source, dump waste in the right place, collect waste and plant trees to cover vacant land.
Immediately after the launch, many localities responded. Tan Yen, Yen The, and Hiep Hoa districts promoted the role of women's union members in cleaning up village roads and alleys, and building flower streets. People's Committees of districts, towns, and cities arranged and maintained the operation of 72 centralized waste treatment areas at the district, commune, and commune cluster levels; 4 sanitary landfills; and operated 76 technological incinerators in districts and towns. Up to now, the rate of waste treated in the whole province has reached about 97.1% of the total amount of waste collected.
Preliminary statistics from districts, towns and cities show that since the beginning of the year, localities have cleared dozens of waste accumulation points along roadsides and canals; each unit has organized 3-4 general environmental cleaning campaigns. At the same time, people have been encouraged to plant trees, forming more flower roads and taking care of them, thereby contributing to improving the effectiveness of environmental protection work, creating a green - clean - beautiful landscape. It is known that up to now, the whole province has more than 500 flower roads planted and cared for by women's associations at all levels.
