Rosie Nguyen (real name Nguyen Cao Hong Nhung, 28 years old, from Can Tho ) and Houman Abouei (36 years old, from the US) have been pursuing the digital nomad lifestyle since 2018. For the past 5 years, Rosie and Houman have been working online and traveling everywhere.

Up to now, the couple has set foot in 10 countries, including Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, USA, Mexico, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Singapore, Georgia and explored about 12 provinces and cities of Vietnam.

Rosie said that the longest trip was to Bali, Indonesia, where they stayed for 9 months due to the Covid-19 pandemic. During this time, the Vietnamese-American couple had exciting days when they were able to fully explore the beautiful and "famous" island.

Besides, Rosie is especially impressed with Mexico, the country she has the opportunity to explore and experience the most.

“Mexico is really bustling and colorful. When I walked around the squares, I was attracted and impressed by the vibrant Mariachi sounds, typical of this land,” Rosie said.

Another plus point that makes Vietnamese girls feel Mexico is very attractive is that there are many beautiful and famous beaches such as Tulum, Cancun, ... or ancient churches from hundreds to thousands of years old.

Rosie has been to Mexico twice, visited more than 10 cities and towns, especially explored the Pueblos Mágicos because she was so fascinated by the scenery, life and cuisine of this country.

In addition, almost every city has a Pueblos Mágicos (a title given by Mexico to communities that still maintain their original architecture, traditions, history and culture) and each Pueblos Mágicos has its own unique history, culture,…

"Especially in Mexico, there is the surreal Tolangtongo hot spring, a destination that made me surprised and exclaimed because it was so beautiful," the 9X added.

Rosie admitted that in 5 years of exploring everywhere, the lucky couple has never encountered any significant difficulties or incidents. Their trips have always been smooth and they have received enthusiastic help from the locals.

For the girl from Can Tho, the most memorable memory was the earthquake in Tajikistan, about 6.5 on the Richter scale. At that time, both of them were on the 19th floor so they clearly felt the strong shaking from the surroundings.

“At that time, we reassured each other to stay calm, quickly gathered important belongings such as laptops, passports, etc., and then moved out by stairs. Luckily, this earthquake did not cause any damage,” Rosie recalled.

Because of their experience, before each trip, Rosie and Houman carefully prepare their health, luggage, travel insurance, etc.

According to Rosie, the only difficulty in pursuing a nomadic lifestyle is missing home, food and Vietnamese flavors. In addition, this lifestyle requires a lot of traveling, so you need to pay attention to your health and proactively arrange your work and time to fit your schedule as well as ensure financial resources.

In particular, travel insurance is also an indispensable part of the journey to explore and conquer different countries.

Not focusing on having a car or a stable house, Rosie and Houman work hard every day and spend most of their income on their passion for traveling. In the picture, the couple is enjoying a trip in Tajikistan.
Long trips help both of them mature and have the motivation to try to improve their quality of life.

Rosie and Houman have a habit of planning and budgeting their monthly expenses. Although they travel a lot, the couple also works hard to have a stable income to support their passion.

Every week, the two of them usually go out to visit and have fun a few times, each time for about 4-5 hours. The rest of the time, they focus on handling work, no matter where they are.

Houman works at least 10 hours a day, while Rosie works 7-8 hours. In addition, the 9X also spends time cleaning, taking care of the house, cooking, etc. That is why at each destination, the couple often stays quite a long time to ensure they can explore all the places they want.

“We also thought about buying a house, buying a car and settling down, but after staying somewhere for a while, we both felt comfortable and familiar. That comfort made us lose motivation, maybe we no longer wanted to work hard to have the finances to travel here and there,” she shared.

Rosie and Houman love challenges, new things and put quality of life first. They want life to be fun and happy doing what they love, instead of chasing after material things.

According to Rosie, they are happy to pursue a nomadic lifestyle, which gives them the opportunity to learn many new things because each country has its own culture, language, cuisine, history, etc.

"After each trip, both of us feel less stressed and more mature, just like the proverb "A day's journey teaches a lot of wisdom", the Vietnamese 9X expressed.
