Statistics show that as of June 1, the film has earned 280.1 million USD in the North American market, bringing its total global revenue to 610.8 million USD - officially surpassing "Sinners" to become the second highest-grossing domestic film in 2025.
Directed by award-winning filmmaker Dean Fleischer Camp, “Lilo & Stitch” is not simply a remake, but a fresh, emotional version of the special friendship between a lonely Hawaiian girl and an alien on the run. Not only conquering children, the film also touches the hearts of adults with its message of family, healing and gentle connections that transcend all boundaries.
According to data from Comscore, the post-Memorial Day weekend in North America recorded a total revenue of $149 million, up more than 120% compared to the same period last year – an optimistic number that shows that audiences are gradually returning to movie theaters.
The second place at the North American box office last week continued to belong to the action blockbuster “Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning”, with 27.3 million USD earned from 3,861 theaters in the US and Canada.
After two weeks of release, the film has grossed $122.6 million domestically, while adding $76.1 million internationally—including $25.2 million from China—to bring its global total to $353.8 million. Despite not yet hitting the profit threshold due to its $400 million production budget, the eighth installment of the Mission: Impossible franchise has still made a big impact on moviegoers.
The biggest surprise of the past week was the impressive appearance of the new “Karate Kid: Legends” - a martial arts film from Sony, which achieved an opening revenue of 21 million USD from 3,809 theaters. The film marked the reunion of Jackie Chan and Ralph Macchio, when both trained a completely new character: Li Fong - a kung fu prodigy played by Ben Wang.
Although critics have given mixed reviews, audiences have been extremely positive, with an A- on CinemaScore and 4.5 stars on PostTrak. With a budget of only $45 million, the film is poised to make a killing in the coming weeks as there are no competitors in the genre.
In fourth place, “Final Destination: Bloodlines” continued to drag audiences into the fateful vortex with $10.8 million, bringing the total global revenue to $229.3 million, the highest in the “Final Destination” series (not accounting for inflation).
Coming in at number 5 was the only horror film to be released in North American theaters this past weekend – “Bring Her Back”, the second film from twin directors Danny and Michael Philippou (who rose to fame with 2023’s “Talk to Me”), which grossed $7.1 million.
The remaining works in the Top 10 highest-grossing films in North America last week include:
6. Sinners - $5.2 million
7. Thunderbolts - $4.8 million
8. Friendship - $2.6 million
9. The Last Rodeo - $2.1 million
10. j-hope Tour 'HOPE ON THE STAGE' in JAPAN: LIVE VIEWING - 939,173 USD.
