Ambassador Vu Quang Minh highly appreciated the efforts of the German-Vietnamese Association in the Federal Republic of Germany in maintaining and developing the friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries.
On the afternoon of November 7, the German-Vietnamese Association in the Federal Republic of Germany successfully held its Congress and elected a new Executive Committee of 19 members, of which Mr. Rolf Schulze - former German Ambassador to Vietnam for the 2007-2011 term, was re-elected as President of the Association for the 2024-2027 term.
This is the first time the Congress has taken place both in person and online.
Earlier, speaking at the event, Mr. Rolf Schulze reviewed the association's activities over the past three years, emphasizing that the goal that the association has always pursued since its establishment in 1991 is to contribute to strengthening the friendship between Germany and Vietnam as well as consolidating and developing the cooperative relationship between Germany and Vietnam.
President Rolf Schulze affirmed that the German-Vietnamese Association considers itself a bridge between the people of the two countries.
According to Mr. Schulze, in addition to two discussions held at the German Foreign Ministry (International Club) on social and historical issues, the Association's outstanding activity during the last term was the introduction of an illustrated book by photographer Thomas Billhardt at the gallery in Wilmersdorf. This book has helped a wider audience to approach Vietnam and its recent history.
In addition, the association's magazine "Viet-Info" regularly updates the economic, political and cultural situation, providing a more comprehensive view of Vietnam as well as making an important contribution to the German-Vietnamese relationship.
Speaking at the event, Vietnamese Ambassador to Germany Vu Quang Minh congratulated the success of the congress, with the re-election of Mr. Rolf Schulze as Chairman, thanked the Association for its companionship and contributions over the years, contributing to bringing the Germany-Vietnam relationship to new heights.
In addition to the role of the German-Vietnamese Association as a bridge between the people of the two countries, Ambassador Vu Quang Minh highly appreciated the Association's efforts over the past 33 years in maintaining and developing the friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries.
According to Ambassador Vu Quang Minh, the German-Vietnamese Association is a very special organization, with members being Germans and Vietnamese living in Germany who share a special affection for Vietnam. The Ambassador expressed his honor to become the Honorary President of the Association and is ready to join hands with the Association to strengthen the friendship between the two nations and the close relationship between the two peoples.
The Ambassador welcomed the Association's policy of expanding its membership, especially among the young, and enriching its activities, especially in areas such as education, vocational training, sending skilled Vietnamese workers to Germany, promoting tourism, economy , investment, and trade between the two sides.
Ambassador Vu Quang Minh affirmed that the Vietnamese Embassy in Berlin has always been a natural partner of the German-Vietnamese Association in the past time, and hopes to continue receiving the Association's support and cooperation in upcoming activities such as exchanging official delegations of Vietnam, organizing the annual Tet holiday, especially the activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of German-Vietnamese diplomatic relations in 2025.
Speaking after being re-elected as Chairman, Mr. Rolf Schulze thanked the congress for its trust and pledged to continue promoting the association's activities in the coming time.
Regarding the Association's future direction, President Rolf Schulze said that over the past 33 years of establishment and development, the Association has had a variety of activities, contributing to strengthening the relationship between Germany and Vietnam. However, changes in the times have also prompted the Association to make changes in its activities to adapt to the new situation.
The year 2025 will mark the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Germany and Vietnam. The Association wishes to contribute to this special series of events with its own projects, such as organizing a very successful extended conference with the second and third generation of Germans of Vietnamese origin in April 2025; In collaboration with the “FOM University of Economics and Management” in Berlin, organizing a specialized conference on the current state and prospects of bilateral cooperation in June 2025.
In addition, the Association is also actively coordinating with the Vietnamese Embassy to build a model of "Vietnamese Communal House" in the "Garden of the World" in Berlin./.
