On November 6, the Project Summary Workshop “Verification of the integrated management model between a Japanese-style nursing training school and a senior care center in Vietnam” was held in coordination between the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and Bach Mai Medical College (under Bach Mai Hospital).
The workshop aimed to report on project implementation results and share experiences and practical lessons among stakeholders.
At the workshop, delegates presented the results of the project's main activities, including: training in Japanese style of elderly care; using nursing practice rooms; organizing training programs in Japan; and applying the online learning system (E-learning) in teaching.
The project is part of JICA's "Program to support small and medium-sized enterprises towards sustainable development goals (SDGs)", implemented from 2024 to 2026. The outstanding point in the project's activities is the philosophy of caring for the elderly based on the principle of respecting the independence of each individual, helping them maintain maximum independence in daily life.
This is an initiative to contribute to solving challenges in the socio -economic development process in developing countries.
The project aims to verify the effectiveness and feasibility of an integrated management model between nursing training facilities and elderly care centers, thereby raising social awareness and promoting the development of elderly care profession in Vietnam - a country facing a rapid population aging.
The project has proposed a curriculum that is suitable for sustainable care orientation, established a practice room with full necessary equipment, creating conditions to combine theory and practice in training human resources in the field of elderly care.
In addition to domestic training activities, the project also organized a training program in Japan in May 2025, with the participation of officials from the Department of Population ( Ministry of Health ), Bach Mai Hospital and Bach Mai Medical College. The program helps officials gain practical access to the welfare and elderly care system in Japan.
Through close cooperation with relevant agencies in Vietnam, especially Bach Mai Hospital - one of Japan's important partners over the years, the project is expected to contribute to the training of elderly care staff in accordance with the actual conditions in the country, thereby promoting the development and professionalization of this field./.
