Jonathan Gjoshe was injured and is in hospital. |
Scunthorpe United, who play in the National League (England's fifth tier), confirmed that Jonathan Gjoshe's injuries are not life-threatening and he is still being treated in hospital.
"Jonathan was one of the victims of the horrific attack on an LNER train heading to London. We can confirm he suffered non-life-threatening injuries. As the investigation is ongoing, the club is unable to provide any further information," Scunthorpe said in a statement.
According to the BBC , the incident left 11 people hospitalized. Police arrested two British men in their 30s, including Anthony Williams (32, from Peterborough) who was charged with attempted murder, along with possession of a sharp weapon and attempted murder in connection with a separate incident at Pontoon Dock (DLR) station earlier in the day.
Williams appeared at Peterborough Magistrates' Court on 3 November and was remanded in custody pending his next hearing at Cambridge Crown Court on 1 December. Williams is also accused of assaulting a police officer following the incident on the train. The other man arrested with Williams has been released but remains under investigation.
Police said five victims had been discharged from hospital, while one remained in a critical condition. An LNER train worker – who is believed to have “saved the lives of several passengers” – is in a critical but stable condition.
