On the afternoon of November 5 in Jakarta (Indonesia), the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) held the draw ceremony for the 2026 Asian Futsal Championship finals.

The 2026 AFC Futsal Championship Finals will feature 16 teams, including eight group winners and seven best second-placed teams from the qualifying round, along with host Indonesia, who will be given a special entry.
Based on the Futsal rankings announced by FIFA on August 29, 2025, 16 teams are divided into 4 seed groups to conduct the group draw.

Vietnam Futsal team is in seed group number 2, with Uzbekistan, Afghanistan and Iraq.
The remaining seed groups include Indonesia (host), Iran, Thailand, Japan in group 1; Kuwait, Tajikistan, Saudi Arabia, Kyrgyzstan in group 3; Australia, Lebanon, South Korea and Malaysia in group 4.
As a result, the Vietnam Futsal team is in group B with Thailand, Kuwait and Lebanon.
According to experts, this is a group that is suitable for coach Diego Giustozzi and his team to win one of the top two positions to enter the quarter-finals.

In the remaining groups, host Indonesia is in Group A by default and will compete with opponents Iraq, Kyrgyz Republic and South Korea, while defending champion Iran is in Group D with Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, and Group C has Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Japan and Australia.
The 2026 AFC Futsal Championship will be held from January 27 to February 7, 2026 in Jakarta (Indonesia). Accordingly, 16 teams will be divided into 4 groups, playing a round-robin tournament, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the quarter-finals.
The best achievement of the Vietnamese Futsal team in the continental arena was reaching the semi-finals in 2016, thereby for the first time in history, winning the right to participate in the FIFA Futsal World Cup.
