Every year, Phu Yen district proactively implements measures to prevent influenza and other diseases in poultry, helping the livestock industry develop sustainably and ensuring income for the people.

Phu Yen has a flock of over 817,000 poultry, with a meat output of nearly 700 tons/year and supplies the market with over 9 million eggs. Ms. Pham Thi Tu, Director of the Phu Yen District Agricultural Service Center, said: One of the sources of influenza and other poultry diseases is the transportation, trading, and consumption of smuggled poultry. The Center has advised the District People's Committee and the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to direct localities to provide additional vaccination against avian influenza; strengthen control of slaughter and inspection of vehicles transporting poultry into the area, and proactively take measures when an epidemic occurs.
In addition, the district's professional agencies regularly coordinate with communes and towns to guide farmers in implementing measures to prevent and control poultry diseases on the commune and village loudspeaker systems; integrate them into village and mass organization meetings; send professional staff to directly propagate in the village... In particular, livestock farmers are advised to disinfect and sterilize livestock and poultry barns according to the principle of "3 steps, 3 phases and 3 sprays".
From 2023 to present, Phu Yen district's professional agencies have organized 3 propaganda campaigns; opened 7 training courses, transferred techniques on flu prevention and other diseases in poultry; injected over 50,000 doses of vaccines against Newcastle disease, cholera, septicemia, influenza A/H5N1, A/H5N6, A/H5N8... In addition, the district's functional agencies have instructed livestock farmers to organize spraying and disinfecting livestock barns with an area of over 5,000m2.
Muong Lang commune has a large poultry flock of over 35,000 birds, proactively implementing measures to prevent and control epidemics, especially influenza. The commune has encouraged households to raise them in the form of free-range poultry with fences, facilitating the management and care of livestock. Mr. Ha Van Dung, Vice Chairman of Muong Lang Commune People's Committee, informed: Since the beginning of the year, the commune has coordinated with the District Agricultural Service Center to inspect and take samples of some poultry flocks in the area to check the epidemic situation. Provided over 30 packages of disinfectants for households to spray over 3,500m2 of barns. At the same time, propagated to people to only use vaccines and medicines for poultry when there is guidance from professional agencies.
Mr. Lo Van Dien, Thuong Lang village, Muong Lang commune, shared: His family raises nearly 300 chickens and ducks. To increase the resistance of the livestock, the family supplements the food according to the instructions of the veterinary staff; uses preventive medicine at each stage, thanks to which the poultry grows well, without outbreaks of disease.
Continuing to proactively take measures to prevent influenza and other diseases in poultry, Phu Yen district has stepped up control of poultry transportation, trading, and slaughter; directed communes and towns to guide livestock households to proactively vaccinate, implement measures to prevent and control influenza, protect poultry flocks, and minimize damage caused by epidemics to livestock households.
