At around 4:30 a.m. on June 2, a fire broke out at a plastic factory on Xuan Thoi Thuong Street, Xuan Thoi Thuong Commune, Hoc Mon District, Ho Chi Minh City.
The fire broke out creating a column of black smoke tens of meters high.
The plastic factory is located in an open field and flooded rice fields, so people around the area used this water source to put out the fire but failed. Inside the factory were mainly finished plastic products, raw materials, and machinery, so the fire quickly spread, creating a column of black smoke dozens of meters high; there was a risk of the fire spreading to neighboring houses.

The Fire Prevention and Fighting Team of Hoc Mon District coordinated with units of the Fire Prevention and Fighting Police Department, Ho Chi Minh City Police to mobilize vehicles and dozens of officers and soldiers to the scene to put out the fire. At this time, the fire had spread to an area of hundreds of square meters of the factory, many locations of the factory were burned and collapsed.
