Khanh Hoa A fire suddenly broke out and engulfed a dragon mascot model over 5 meters high located at Yen Phi Park, causing panic among many people on the afternoon of January 30 (December 20).
At around 5pm, smoke and fire billowed from the carp transforming into a dragon statue in the lake area in the middle of the park. Some nearby residents shouted and security forces used mini fire extinguishers to put out the fire but were unsuccessful. The fire only lasted a few minutes but the strong wind and flammable plastic and foam materials burned the entire model down, leaving only the iron frame.
The burnt statue is designed in the style of a golden carp soaring above the clouds with the intention of transforming into a dragon. The top of the statue is a meticulously sculpted dragon with brilliant colors. This is one of the items under construction, expected to be completed before February 2 (December 23), serving the Tet Giap Thin spring flower festival in the coastal city.
According to the Green Tree Enterprise under Nha Trang Urban Environment Joint Stock Company (investor), the spring flower festival decoration project at Yen Phi Park includes 9 large and small miniatures with 13 dragon models. The fire broke out while workers were installing the decorative models. The unit is clarifying the cause, fixing the problem and completing the items before the flower festival opens.
