Fire breaks out in lab of famous specialized school in Nghe An, many students evacuated

At 10:30 a.m. on May 7, during class at Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted on Le Hong Phong Street, Vinh City, Nghe An Province, some students and teachers discovered smoke and fire coming from the laboratory in the three-story building of the school.

Immediately afterwards, teachers and school security guards used mini fire extinguishers to put out the fire on the spot but were unsuccessful.

Because there were many chemicals and flammable materials in the laboratory, the fire broke out fiercely.

Below the first and second floor classrooms, students were evacuated from their classrooms.

Upon receiving the news, Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Team No. 1, Nghe An Provincial Police dispatched two fire trucks and dozens of officers and soldiers to quickly go to the scene to put out the fire.

According to Tuoi Tre Online , the fire did not cause any human casualties but burned down many equipment and learning tools in the laboratory.

Police are blocking off, examining the scene and investigating the cause of the fire.

Mr. Nguyen Trong Hoan - Chief of Office of Nghe An Department of Education and Training - said that the department had received information about the fire from Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted. The initial cause was determined to be a chemical bottle falling from the laboratory practice room causing the fire.

The Department has directed the school to promptly fix the problem and ensure safety for students to return to normal study.

Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted is one of the most prestigious specialized schools in the country, established 50 years ago.

The school is currently building a new facility in Nghi An and Nghi Phong communes, Vinh city to replace the current school.
