Chevrolet's electric vehicle lineup is expanding at full speed. After introducing electric versions of the Blazer, Equinox, and Silverado, the brand continues to add another familiar name to its global roster: the all-electric 2025 Chevrolet Captiva . |

But before you get too excited about the Chevrolet Captiva electric SUV , remember that this is one of those “South America only” models. The Captiva name was first used in the mid-2000s for a small SUV sold in a few markets such as Europe, Australia, New Zealand and Southeast Asia. |

In some markets, the car is also known as the Daewoo Winstorm. After the original Chevrolet Captiva was discontinued, General Motors revived the model with a new version based on the Chinese Baojun 530. Now, the Captiva has gone all-electric and is based on another Chinese model. |

Specifically, this time, the Chevrolet Captiva EV was born based on the Wuling Starlight S, also known as the Xing Guang S, currently sold in China. This is not surprising because Wuling is a subsidiary brand of the SAIC-GM-Wuling joint venture in China. |

Recent social media posts from GM in Brazil show that much of the Wuling Starlight S’s design has been retained on the Captiva EV, although there are some minor tweaks to better fit the Chevrolet brand. |

Up front, the Captiva EV features narrow LED daytime running lights and turn signals. Meanwhile, the main headlights are placed lower on the front bumper. Despite being an electric vehicle, the Captiva EV still has a large black grille. This makes it different from the grille-less design common in modern electric vehicles. |

Meanwhile, the rear area of the Captiva EV is almost identical to its "twin brother" Wuling Starlight S. The similarity is shown through the design of the taillight cluster, the trunk door and the black rear bumper. Currently, the official specifications of the Chevrolet Captiva EV have not been announced. |

The Wuling model is equipped with an electric motor located on the front axle, generating a maximum capacity of 201 horsepower. Thanks to that, the car can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 7.7 seconds. The electric motor goes with a 60 kWh lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) battery, providing a travel range of up to 510 km according to China's rather lenient CLTC standard. |

The car supports DC fast charging with battery capacity increasing from 30% to 80% in 20 minutes. In addition, Wuling Starlight S also has other notable features such as an 8.8-inch digital dashboard, a 15.6-inch central touch screen, running on Ling OS, supporting software updates over the network, voice commands as well as connecting to smartphones. |

Wuling Starlight S has dimensions of length x width x height of 4,745 x 1,890 x 1,685 mm and a wheelbase of 2,800 mm. The dimensions of the Chevrolet Captiva EV are expected to remain at this level. Therefore, the car will be positioned in the D-class electric SUV segment. |

The price of the Chevrolet Captiva EV 2025 has not been announced, the car will be sold in markets such as Latin America, the Middle East and Africa. These are areas where the car's compact size and affordable price are expected to meet the right demand. |
