TPO - The Ho Chi Minh City Public Transport Management Center (referred to as the Center) has just issued a plan to ensure bus operations during the National Day holiday on September 2 and the Can Gio Whale Festival in 2024.

Accordingly, the Ho Chi Minh City Public Transport Management Center forecasts that passenger travel demand during the National Day holiday on September 2 and the Can Gio Whale Festival in 2024 will increase compared to the same period in 2023.

Specifically, at Binh Khanh ferry (connecting Nha Be district with Can Gio district), there will be an average of 188 ferry trips/day with the number of passengers being about 32,600. Of which, the number of passengers who need to participate in public passenger transport by bus to Can Gio district is expected to increase by about 10% (3,000 passengers/day).

At Tan Son Nhat International Airport, the forecast number of passengers passing through the port is 130,000 passengers/day on average, an increase of 8% over the same period.

In addition, the Center also forecasts that the travel demand of passengers at inter-provincial bus stations during this period is 83,600 passengers/day with 3,059 trips served, an increase of 18% in the number of passengers compared to the same period. According to calculations, the demand for passengers traveling by bus will increase on August 31 and September 3 with the forecasted passenger demand of about 15,000 passengers/day.

For bus routes with a large number of students, it is forecasted that the demand for bus travel on some bus routes will decrease by about 5-10% compared to normal days.

Details of bus route adjustments in Ho Chi Minh City

Based on the forecast of passenger travel demand during the National Day holiday on September 2 (from August 31 to September 3) and the Can Gio Whale Festival (from September 16 to September 18), the Center divides bus routes in Ho Chi Minh City into 6 groups of routes that need to be adjusted and maintained to serve passenger travel needs. Specifically as follows:

Bus routes connecting to Can Gio district : The Public Transport Management Center will adjust the number of trips to meet people's travel needs, especially routes 77 and 90.

Bus route group connecting Tan Son Nhat airport

Because the capacity of the public passenger transport system by bus has basically met the travel needs of people going to and from Tan Son Nhat airport. Therefore, bus routes connecting Tan Son Nhat airport must ensure proper operation according to the parameters and schedule issued by the Department of Transport of Ho Chi Minh City and the Center to serve the travel needs of passengers.

Route group connecting the new Eastern bus station and inter-provincial bus stations

For subsidized bus routes 76, 93 and 150: transport units operating on the routes must ensure proper operation of parameters and schedules to serve the travel needs of people from the new Eastern bus station to districts in the city and vice versa, as well as increase passenger clearance at bus stations.

For bus routes 55 and 56: because these bus routes have a high proportion of students traveling on the route (about 50 - 55% of total passenger volume). Therefore, the Center will adjust the number of trips per day from 30 to 40 trips per day. Specifically, reduce 40 trips of bus route 55 Quang Trung Software Park - New Eastern Bus Station: from 190 to 150 trips per day; Reduce 40 trips per day of bus route 56 Cho Lon Bus Station - University of Transport: from 210 trips to 170 trips per day. The adjustment period is from September 1 to September 2.

For bus routes connecting the old Eastern Bus Stations: subsidized bus routes 43 and 45 with a high proportion of students traveling on the route, will be adjusted to reduce 20-24 trips/day, specifically: reduce 88 trips from September 1 to September 2 of these two bus routes.

For bus routes connecting An Suong Bus Stations: subsidized bus routes No. 4, 27, 65 and 104 with high student traffic will be adjusted to reduce 20-68 trips/day, specifically: reduce 328 trips from September 1 to September 2 of these four bus routes.

For bus routes connecting Mien Tay Bus Stations: bus routes at Mien Tay Bus Station will maintain the current operating parameters to serve the travel needs of passengers.

Route groups with reduced output on the occasion of National Day September 2

Through monitoring the volume of passengers traveling by bus in previous years on the occasion of National Day, September 2, the Center recorded a decrease in the volume of passengers traveling on these days on 8 bus routes including: No. 1, 6, 8, 31, 36, 53, 59 and 72. Therefore, it is necessary to adjust the structure of the number of trips per day to suit the travel needs of passengers, specifically: reduce 588 trips of the above bus routes.

Routes that will be suspended: During the National Day holiday on September 2, due to the characteristics of subsidized bus route No. 50 and subsidized bus route No. 52, which have routes connecting directly to the University of Science and Technology and the International University, they will be temporarily suspended from August 31 to September 3.

For the remaining bus routes: The Center does not change operating parameters to ensure stability to serve the travel needs of passengers.
