• SILENT WARRIORS
Visiting and giving gifts to patients who have been and are in need of continuous blood treatment to sustain their lives is one of the main activities of the "Red Journey" Program. The Organizing Committee of the "Red Journey" Program and the Blood Donation Festival of the City of Flowers 2025 in Lam Dong province has maintained this activity continuously through 13 events. Through this meaningful activity, it contributes to sharing and encouraging the silent warriors who are fighting anemia every day, helping patients have faith and hope in their treatment. The program has presented 30 gifts to 30 patients receiving blood transfusions, Thalassmia patients with difficult circumstances who are being treated at Lam Dong General Hospital in the Pediatrics Department and Internal Medicine Department B; each gift is worth 700,000 VND, including 500,000 VND in cash and cakes, candies, and milk.

Patient Hoang Thanh Giang, 40 years old in Da Lat, shared: “I have been treated here for 9 years due to thrombocytopenia. 2 years ago, I went to the hospital regularly for treatment, once a month, and was examined by the doctor for monitoring and prescribed platelet transfusion. Since I gave birth to my third child, the number of times I have been hospitalized has gradually decreased, sometimes every 3-6 months I have to go to the hospital for examination and treatment, my health has improved a lot. Although I have health insurance, the cost fluctuates an additional 1-2 million VND/treatment period. I sell bread, eat at restaurants and work extra to take care of my family. I was very touched when receiving this gift, because I saw many people caring for patients like us.”

Hoang Vien Chuc, 16 years old (in Duc Trong) shared: “For about 14 years now, I have been coming to this hospital for treatment, from the age of 2 until now I am in 9th grade. My parents take me to the hospital once a month for a blood transfusion, thanks to that my health is still good. Today I received the gift and I am very happy, I will try to treat my illness and study well.”

Mr. Nguyen Cong Thien, 70 years old in Da Lat, shared: “I have been going to the hospital to treat anemia for about 4 years now. Before, I used to go to the hospital for a blood transfusion once a month, now I go to the hospital for a blood transfusion every 20 days. Every time I get a blood transfusion, I feel healthy, on average I have 6 bags of blood (6 units of blood) per time. Receiving the gift today, I am very touched and thank everyone for caring and helping me and the children being treated here.”

Ms. Nguyen Cao Nhu Hien - Deputy Director of Tam Sai Gon Dental Pharmacy Joint Stock Company shared: “It is a happy thing to be able to do something for patients. Through the Red Journey seasons, our Company has always accompanied the Provincial Red Cross Society. This time, coming to poor patients, the Company gave cash gifts (5 million VND) to share with the patients. Tomorrow, the opening of the Red Journey, we mobilized the Company's staff to share their blood with about 35 people participating in blood donation”.

We saw many difficult situations wherever they were and wanted to help. Therefore, from Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa , my husband and I went to Lam Dong General Hospital to directly participate in this program, sharing and contributing 4 million VND to give gifts to patients. In previous Red Journey Programs, we always sent our company's bird's nest to Da Lat to give to patients."

Mr. Nguyen Quang Minh - Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial Red Cross Society said: Every year, Lam Dong Provincial Red Cross Society - the Standing Agency for Voluntary Blood Donation in the province coordinates with the National Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation and the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion to organize the Red Journey Program. Thereby, promoting and mobilizing all classes of people to participate in blood donation to contribute to meeting the blood demand for patient treatment. Today, along with the activities of the Red Journey Program, Lam Dong Provincial Red Cross Society coordinated with sponsors to present a number of gifts to patients being treated at Lam Dong General Hospital.
This is one of the most meaningful activities with the Red Journey Program this year. Organizing blood donation to save lives has a very important meaning, especially for patients being treated at the hospital. Therefore, sponsors and benefactors are very willing to share and join hands with the Provincial Red Cross to contribute gifts to the patients. In addition to organizing blood donation to meet the need for blood transfusion, giving gifts to patients also has a great spiritual meaning, encouraging patients to continue treatment, so that patients believe more in the good things in life.
