Legend has it that Thien Huong was a beautiful and virtuous girl. In the village, there was a man named Le Si Triet, an orphan who was raised by the monk Tri Tan. He was good at literature and martial arts and also showed his admiration for her. One day, Thien Huong went to Mot Mountain to worship at the pagoda and was surrounded by a group of thugs. In the midst of danger, Le Si Triet rushed out to fight and save her. To repay him, Thien Huong's parents promised to marry her to Le Si Triet. But in the midst of the chaos, before the two could get married, Le Si Triet had to join the army and go to war.
When Le Si Triet joined the army, at home, while going up the mountain to worship Buddha, Thien Huong was surrounded and captured by the group of bad guys who wanted to humiliate her. To keep her loyalty, she jumped into the ravine and committed suicide. One night, she appeared to meet the monk Tri Tan, in the form of a dark-skinned woman and told him the whole story. After hearing the whole story, the monk woke up and sent people to find her body and bring it back for burial. Later, the people in the area built a shrine on the mountain. From then on, Mot Mountain was called Ba Den Mountain by the people.

The second time he had a dream was when Lord Nguyen Anh was chased by the Tay Son army and fled to Ba Den Mountain to hide. That night, Ba Den appeared in his dream and showed Lord Nguyen the way to escape. When Nguyen Anh ascended the throne, remembering the story of going up the mountain and being told by Thien Huong where to hide and escape, he bestowed upon her the title of Linh Son Thanh Mau and carved a bronze statue of her for the people to worship and worship.
The Ba Den Mountain scenic complex covers an area of about 24km², consisting of 3 mountains: Heo Mountain - Phung Mountain - Ba Den Mountain. Scattered from the foot of the mountain to the top of the mountain is an architectural complex including temples, pagodas, shrines, towers... In which, the most prominent is Ba Den Pagoda (Linh Son Tien Thach Tu) or also known as Thuong Pagoda, where the bronze statue of Ba Den is located. In addition, on the mountain there are a number of other pagodas such as: Buddha Pagoda with a statue of Buddha entering nirvana, Hang Pagoda (Linh Son An Phuoc Tu), Ha Pagoda, Trung Pagoda (Linh Son Phuoc Trung Tu), Van Son Pagoda.
The cable car route at Sun World Ba Den Mountain tourist area is one of the steepest cable car systems in the world, with an average slope of 63.53% (about 32.43 degrees) and a maximum slope of 104% (about 45 degrees). With this special slope and a speed of 6m/s, the cable route will take visitors from Ba Pagoda over steep cliffs to the "roof of the South" in just over 5 minutes.
Interspersed with the pagoda system are many caves that have been repaired by monks and Buddhists as places of worship such as: Thanh Long cave, Ong Ho cave, Ba Co cave, Ba Tuan cave, Thien Thai cave, Ong Ta cave, Gio cave... At the foot of the mountain is a cultural tourist area with entertainment areas and restaurants.
In January 2024, the Buddhist Sangha of Tay Ninh province held a ceremony to install the Maitreya Bodhisattva statue, creating a highlight for the Ba Den Mountain tourist area. The Maitreya Bodhisattva statue is 36m high, 45m wide at its widest, has a surface area of 4,651m², and weighs 5,112 tons. The statue was created in a unique way never seen before in Vietnam: assembled from 6,688 natural sandstone stones inspired by terraced fields.

Up to now, Ba Den Mountain tourist area still owns many Guinness world records such as: Ba Den Station is the "World's largest cable car station"; Tay Bo Da Son Buddha statue with 2 records "The tallest bronze Buddha statue in Asia located on the top of the mountain" and "The tallest bronze Buddha statue in Vietnam located on the top of the mountain"; "The world's largest sandstone Maitreya Buddha statue"; "The highest artificial waterfall in Asia".
With its natural beauty and historical and cultural relics, in January 1989, Ba Den Mountain was recognized as a national historical relic and scenic spot. Sun Group and Tay Ninh province have cooperated and invested in renovating Ba Den Mountain to become an attractive tourist destination. For many years, Ba Den Mountain tourist area - "the roof of the South" has always been chosen as the place to organize unique spiritual festivals, many cultural and artistic events attracting a large number of domestic and foreign tourists to visit and experience.
