US government considers banning DeepSeek

According to Huawei Central , the US government is concerned that DeepSeek's AI technology could pose a threat to the country's national security. The chairman of the US House of Representatives Select Committee has called for stricter export controls on critical technologies related to AI infrastructure. The leader stressed that such technologies could endanger US data and hinder the country's AI development ambitions.

DeepSeek raises privacy concerns

Additionally, co-founder of the nonprofit Center for Information Resilience Ross Burly warned that the emergence of DeepSeek is raising privacy concerns in the US. "As more and more people use it, it opens the door to providing more and more personal data to the Chinese government," he said in an interview with CBS.

Not only the US Department of Commerce but also the US Navy has banned its members from using DeepSeek AI technology. In an email to members, the US Navy emphasized that the use of this technology could threaten national security and user privacy.

Regarding DeepSeek's privacy policy, the company collects a lot of information from users, including device model, operating system, IP address, and system language. This data collection may be one of the reasons why the US government is concerned.
