According to the Principal of Hoang Hoa Tham High School: At the propaganda sessions, students were disseminated knowledge of road traffic laws such as: Safety rules when crossing the road, the meaning of traffic lights, signs, road markings or regulations on wearing helmets when participating in traffic; warnings about common traffic situations, regulations on driving electric motorbikes, electric bicycles and motorbikes; penalties for violations. In particular, after the propaganda session, students signed a commitment not to violate traffic safety.

Meanwhile, the Traffic Safety Committee of Yen The Ward also regularly directs the Traffic Safety Self-management Team of the ward to strengthen the propaganda and dissemination of traffic safety laws to each residential area and school. Mr. Tran Dai Tri - Chairman of the Ward People's Committee - informed: In 2023, the Traffic Safety Committee of the ward organized propaganda at 3 schools in the area with the participation of more than 4,050 students and teachers; compiled 70 articles on security, order, and traffic safety for propaganda via social networks Facebook and Zalo. At the same time, organized 1,213 families to sign a commitment to the emulation covenant "Joining hands for traffic safety"; 1,950 students signed a commitment to comply with traffic safety regulations.

“In the coming time, the ward will focus on educating students of Hoang Hoa Tham High School about the age limit for driving motorbikes and electric motorbikes; parents should not give electric motorbikes to students who are not old enough to participate in traffic. Along with that, the ward's Traffic Safety Self-Management Team will step up patrolling and controlling the area, especially key routes with complicated traffic safety issues,” said the Chairman of Yen The Ward People's Committee.

In order to rectify and limit the situation of students violating traffic safety regulations, in addition to the solution of propagating the Road Traffic Law in schools, the Traffic Police and Public Order of Pleiku City Police also increased the handling of violations.

At a recent meeting with parents and students who violated the Road Traffic Law, the Traffic Police and Public Order of Pleiku City Police Department disseminated and explained to everyone the dangerous level of using motorbikes to participate in traffic when underage.

Student BHĐ - Grade 10, Le Loi High School - admitted: "I still have a few months to go before I turn 16. According to regulations, I am not allowed to drive a motorbike, but I saw my classmates at school using this means of transport to school, so I followed suit. After being explained and informed, I realized my mistake and will not repeat it again."

According to Major Nguyen Thi Hong Khanh - Deputy Captain of the Traffic Police and Order Team (Pleiku City Police): The Road Traffic Law stipulates that people aged 16 to under 18 are only allowed to drive motorbikes with a cylinder capacity of less than 50 cm3. However, for many reasons, some parents still give their children motorbikes when they are not qualified to drive the vehicle, and even the situation of students driving motorbikes over 50 cm3 still occurs.

Since the beginning of 2024, Pleiku City Police have detected and handled 447 students who violated traffic safety regulations with offenses such as: speeding, not wearing helmets, carrying more people than the prescribed number, not being old enough to drive a vehicle... with a total fine of more than 330 million VND.

According to Major Khanh, Pleiku City Police have developed a plan to disseminate the law in schools, educational institutions and ethnic minority villages. In particular, they focus on compiling propaganda materials and coordinating with ward and commune police forces to do a good job of disseminating and educating students about traffic safety in schools.

“We proactively innovate and diversify forms of propaganda, focusing on vivid, visual images or through stories and examples of good compliance with traffic safety regulations so that students can easily access them. From there, we raise awareness of traffic safety compliance among students as well as teenagers in ethnic minority villages,” Major Khanh emphasized.
