Proactively respond to heavy rain and floods on rivers in Thanh Hoa province

According to the heavy rain forecast bulletin of Thanh Hoa Province's Hydrometeorological Station, from the evening of May 28 to the early morning of May 30, Thanh Hoa province will have moderate rain, heavy rain, and some places will have very heavy rain and thunderstorms. The total rainfall is generally from 40-80mm, some places over 100mm; during thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind. According to the flood warning bulletin of the National Center for Hydrometeorological Forecasting, from the evening of May 28 to May 29, on small rivers in Thanh Hoa province, there is a possibility of a flood, with a flood amplitude of 2-5m; during this flood, the flood peak on small rivers and upstream rivers is likely to reach alert level 1 and above alert level 1.

Pursuant to Official Dispatch No. 2533/BNNMT-DD dated May 28, 2025 of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment on flood response on rivers in the Northern region and Thanh Hoa, in order to proactively respond to natural disasters and minimize damage caused by natural disasters, the Provincial Steering Committee for Flood and Storm Prevention and Control requests the Steering Committee for Flood and Storm Prevention and Control of districts, towns, cities, relevant departments, branches and units to implement the following contents:

Closely monitor flood forecasts and warnings, heavy rains, and other natural disasters and water level developments on rivers; provide timely information and warnings to local authorities and people for proactive prevention.

Direct and organize inspections of production activities in riverbeds and riverbanks; notify owners of rafts and cages, investors with projects under construction along the river, owners of water transport vehicles and mineral exploitation vehicles of flood information to proactively take measures to ensure safety for people, rafts and cages, vehicles, equipment and projects.

Carefully review residential areas, promptly detect areas at risk of insecurity, especially areas at risk of landslides, flash floods, localized flooding, proactively arrange forces and means, resolutely relocate and evacuate people from dangerous areas, areas at high risk of flash floods, landslides, etc. Be ready to mobilize forces, means, and equipment according to the "4 on-site" motto to deploy response when situations arise.

Thanh Hoa Newspaper, Thanh Hoa Radio and Television increase the time of reporting news and articles on the developments and situations of floods, heavy rains and other natural disasters; districts, towns and cities direct specialized departments, People's Committees of communes, wards and towns and related units, especially the grassroots information system, to increase propaganda, dissemination and guidance for people on how to recognize and have skills to respond to floods, heavy rains and other natural disasters to minimize damage.

The provincial Hydrometeorological Station closely monitors, forecasts, warns, and promptly provides information on floods, heavy rains, and other natural disasters to proactively deploy response measures.

Regularly synthesize and report the situation to the Standing Office of the Provincial Command for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control and the Standing Office of the Provincial Command for Civil Defense, Natural Disaster Response and Search and Rescue.
