District Chairman in Dong Nai resigns after being disciplined for illegally building 680 houses

TPO - Ms. Vu Thi Minh Chau, Deputy Secretary of the District Party Committee and Chairwoman of the Trang Bom District People's Committee, has submitted a resignation letter due to health reasons. Ms. Chau was determined to have committed violations related to the project of illegally building 680 villas and townhouses, and a number of her subordinates have been prosecuted.

On May 10, a leader of Trang Bom District Party Committee ( Dong Nai ) confirmed: Ms. Vu Thi Minh Chau, Deputy Secretary of the District Party Committee, Chairman of Trang Bom District People's Committee, submitted a resignation letter due to health reasons.

Ms. Chau's resignation application was sent to the Dong Nai Provincial Party Committee's Organizing Committee for consideration and processing according to authority.

Previously, on April 12, 2023, the Chairman of Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee signed the inspection conclusion of the Tan Thinh Residential Area project (Doi 61 commune, Trang Bom district) invested by LDG Investment Joint Stock Company, which illegally built 680 villas and townhouses.

According to the inspection conclusion, Ms. Vu Thi Minh Chau - Chairman of Trang Bom District People's Committee and many other leaders of this district were irresponsible in detecting and preventing violations of land laws related to the above project, such as: Inventory, compensation price applied to the wrong land user, wrong relocation bonus or inventory records, land recovery notices, land recovery decisions... not to the right land user, violating regulations on compensation, support and resettlement.

In the case of violations by LDC Investment Joint Stock Company at Tan Thinh Residential Area Project, the Investigation Police Agency of Dong Nai Province Police also initiated a criminal case on the act of "Abusing position and power while performing official duties", executing arrest warrants for many individuals related to the violations. On November 30, 2023, the Investigation Police Agency of Dong Nai Province Police prosecuted and temporarily detained Mr. Nguyen Khanh Hung (45 years old, Chairman of the Board of Directors, legal representative of LDG Investment Joint Stock Company) for defrauding customers.

Also related to violations at the Tan Thinh Residential Area project, the Investigation Police Agency of Dong Nai Province Police has issued a decision to prosecute and temporarily detain Mr. Nguyen Van Nhat Huy (46 years old, specialist of the Urban Management Department of Trang Bom District); Luong Quang Huy (44 years old, Chairman of Giang Dien Commune People's Committee, former Deputy Head of the Urban Management Department of Trang Bom District); Phan Duy Nghia (59 years old, former Head of the Urban Management Department of Trang Bom District) and Nguyen Hai Trieu (45 years old, Deputy Head of the Urban Management Department of Trang Bom District) to investigate the act of abusing position and power while performing official duties.

For the same crime, the investigation agency prosecuted and issued a house arrest order for Ms. Nguyen Lan Hanh, a specialist at the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Trang Bom district.
