The President and his delegation inspected the important preparations for the memorial service and burial of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

On July 24th, President To Lam inspected the preparations for the funeral of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong at Mai Dich Cemetery ( Hanoi ).
Also participating in the inspection team were Nguyen Duy Ngoc, Chief of the Central Party Office; Le Huy Vinh, Deputy Minister of National Defence; and Nguyen Van Nghia, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army.
President To Lam lit incense at the Monument to the Fatherland, commemorating and paying tribute to the late leaders of the Party and State who are resting in peace at Mai Dich Cemetery.
Following this, the President and the delegation inspected the important preparations for the memorial service and burial of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong. Relevant agencies are urgently completing the necessary tasks to ensure readiness for the burial ceremony. In addition, all plans to ensure absolute security and safety for the burial ceremony are also ready.
President To Lam requested the Funeral Organizing Committee and relevant agencies, with a sense of responsibility and affection for General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, to enhance their sense of responsibility and prepare safely and meticulously for the memorial service, funeral ceremony, and burial of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, which will take place over two days from July 25-26.
According to a special announcement regarding the funeral of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, the burial ceremony will take place at Mai Dich Cemetery at 3 PM on July 26th. The Funeral Committee consists of 35 members, chaired by President To Lam.
The Funeral Organizing Committee consists of 27 members, chaired by Politburo member and Standing Committee Secretary Luong Cuong. The two vice-chairmen are Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai and Chief of the Central Party Office Nguyen Duy Ngoc.
Mai Dịch Cemetery was built in 1956 with a total area of 5.9 hectares to house the graves of martyrs from the anti-French resistance period of Hanoi city.
In 1982, the cemetery was renovated and the burial plots were reorganized to accommodate the remains of high-ranking officials.
This is the burial place of high-ranking officials including the General Secretary, the President, the Chairman of the National Assembly, the Prime Minister, and scientists, cultural figures, writers, poets who have received the Ho Chi Minh Prize, outstanding generals, and heroes of the armed forces.
