President Vo Van Thuong attends the Mid-Autumn Festival in Binh Phuoc

On the evening of September 27, in Dong Xoai City, Binh Phuoc Province, the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and the Central Council of the Young Pioneers organized a Mid-Autumn Festival program for children called “Lanterns light up dreams” with the theme “Doing good deeds with friends to enjoy the Mid-Autumn Festival”. President Vo Van Thuong attended and shared joy with the children at the program.

Also attending were former Politburo member, former Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh and representatives of leaders of central departments, ministries and branches.

The program was broadcast online and connected to 14 connecting points in the provinces and cities: Ha Giang, Lao Cai, Hanoi , Hai Phong, Quang Ninh, Ninh Binh, Ha Tinh, Dak Lak, Lam Dong, Dong Nai, Binh Duong, Ho Chi Minh City, Ben Tre and Kien Giang.

This is the 11th year of the Mid-Autumn Festival journey for children, the 3rd year of the program "Lanterns light up dreams" organized by the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and the Central Council of the Young Pioneers with the desire to bring to children in difficult circumstances a warm, joyful and meaningful Mid-Autumn Festival.

Held from September 19-29, the Mid-Autumn Festival for Children Program "Lanterns light up dreams" has been organized by the Youth Union, the Young Pioneer Councils at all levels, and Young Pioneer organizations with many diverse activities with more than 5 million lanterns and Mid-Autumn Festival gifts given to children in difficult circumstances, children living in poor households, children of young workers; children in remote areas, border areas, and islands; children living in shelters, open houses, childcare centers, facilities for disabled children, children with serious illnesses; orphans, especially children affected by the COVID-19 pandemic across the country.

Within the framework of the program, the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and the Central Council of the Young Pioneers presented more than 12,000 lanterns and Mid-Autumn gifts to children in 22 provinces and cities: Binh Phuoc, Dong Nai, Binh Duong, Binh Thuan, Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Tay Ninh, Ho Chi Minh City, Bac Kan, Hoa Binh, Hanoi, Nghe An, Phu Yen, Khanh Hoa, Lam Dong, Dak Nong, Dak Lak, Gia Lai, Vinh Long, Hau Giang, An Giang, Kien Giang, Soc Trang.

In Binh Phuoc province, units have organized many meaningful activities, imbued with a deep humanitarian spirit for children with the theme "Doing good deeds with friends to enjoy the Mid-Autumn Festival" such as: organizing a cultural festival for children of ethnic groups in the Southern region; photo exhibition of the Journey "Lanterns light up dreams" of 63 provinces and cities; organizing fun activities, experiences and culinary exchanges; inaugurating and presenting "Space for reading, interacting and Team activities", a computer room for learning information technology for children; Mid-Autumn Festival tray display contest; lantern festival; lantern procession, lion dance.

Speaking at the Gala Night, on behalf of the Party and State leaders, President Vo Van Thuong cordially sent his warmest and most affectionate greetings to the youth and children across the country. The President was pleased to know that, despite their different circumstances, the children always strive to excel in their studies, achieve good results, are polite, united, loving, caring and sharing with their families and society.

The President hopes that you will always strive to study, practice, promote the results you have achieved and achieve even higher results. The President affirmed that caring for, educating and protecting teenagers and children is a major policy of the Party and State. This is an important task of strategic significance for the sustainable development of the country. The President expressed his joy to know that, in recent times, many socio-political organizations and unions have accompanied and organized many meaningful programs and activities to care for teenagers and children.

The President welcomed the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union for organizing many meaningful programs and activities over the years, especially during the Mid-Autumn Festival with many themes in different regions, contributing to bringing children the opportunity to "play together, carry star lanterns together, and listen to the stories of Hang and Cuoi".

The President hopes that the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, agencies, organizations and the whole society will continue to join hands so that “every year, children and teenagers can have fun, be creative and share joy”. Central and local agencies will promote the spirit of caring for, educating and protecting children and teenagers, providing them with a healthy learning environment, entertainment, personality improvement and development.

At the Mid-Autumn Festival - Lanterns light up dreams program, 100 children, including 50 representing orphans affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, 50 disadvantaged children in Binh Phuoc province received a Mid-Autumn gift and a scholarship of 2 million VND from the President. In addition, each child received a scholarship of 2 million VND from the Central Youth Union, the Central Council of the Young Pioneers and accompanying agencies and units. More than 1,000 disadvantaged children from districts and cities in Binh Phuoc province who attended the program also received a Mid-Autumn lantern and a gift worth 350,000 VND.

On this occasion, the President presented 2 computer rooms including 40 computers; the Central Youth Union and the Central Council of the Young Pioneers presented 1 project "Space for reading, interaction and Team activities" to Tan Xuan C Primary School, Dong Xoai City, Binh Phuoc Province, worth 350 million VND. The total resources of the project and gifts presented in Binh Phuoc Province on this occasion was 1.6 billion VND./.
