"As of tonight, 82 cases have been discharged from the hospital and fortunately there have been no serious, life-threatening cases," said Mr. Hoang Vu Thanh.
However, identifying this as an incident related to food safety and hygiene in the area, Vung Tau City quickly directed relevant units immediately after receiving the information, and at the same time requested the parties to promptly trace the origin and find the cause.
In particular, it requires units to coordinate and request related hospitals and medical centers to actively treat patients, so that people can quickly stabilize their health and be discharged from the hospital. In addition, Vung Tau City will request the Department of Health to work with the Ho Chi Minh City Institute of Public Health to support and soon have test results for suspected samples.
Vung Tau City Police have the responsibility to coordinate with all parties to fully, accurately and thoroughly trace the contents related to the food purchased, sold and circulated by this facility. At the same time, the facilities involved in the incident will have to temporarily suspend business to trace the origin, awaiting the conclusion from the authorities.

After the incident, Vung Tau City directed wards, departments and units to conduct a general review of food service establishments in the area within 20 days regarding business registration, food safety and hygiene and tax obligations; at the same time, develop a plan for a general inspection of food safety and hygiene.
Currently, Vung Tau City Police and the Economic Department are tracing the origin at 4 bread production facilities, 1 pork production facility and 1 ham production facility.
Earlier that morning, many people went to the hospital with the above symptoms. After investigation, it was found that they all ate bread at the sandwich and sticky rice shop Co Ba Ben Dinh (Ward 7, Vung Tau City).
The suspected dish is a sandwich, filled with boiled meat, pork floss, butter, pate, ham, sauce, pickles, onions and cilantro. The meal was eaten from around 4pm on November 26 to 11pm the same day.
After receiving the information, the authorities inspected the facility and took samples of all remaining food at the store and 1 sample of the specimen (vomit) taken at the hospital to send to the Ho Chi Minh City Institute of Public Health for testing of microbiological indicators.
