Candidate LGD (in Ho Chi Minh City) said that he had registered for early admission to FPT University's branch in Ho Chi Minh City and had qualified for admission to the multimedia communications major.

"The school texted me that I had passed the admission test and that I would be awarded a 10% scholarship for 2024. According to the school's advice, to be sure of being admitted and receiving this scholarship, candidates must pay a deposit to secure the scholarship. I then transferred 5 million VND to the school in May 2024," said candidate D.

According to this candidate, after transferring the scholarship deposit, the school sent several messages, notifications, and congratulations. On June 26, the school sent a message with the content: "Wishing LGD to be calm and confident to achieve the highest results in the high school exam. FPT University will consider granting 180 scholarships worth 180 million for candidates who scored 25 points or more (math + 2 any subjects) in the high school exam...".

On July 8, this candidate continued to receive a message: "FPT University congratulates you on successfully registering for admission to the school. The school will send instructions for registering your wishes to FPT University on the information portal of the Ministry of Education and Training"...

"When I contacted the school's consultant and asked if I could get my money back if I didn't enroll now, I was asked to go through the procedure. It wasn't until August 2024 that the school instructed candidates to do this procedure, but they were only refunded 50% of the money they paid," D. added.

No application but still invited to receive scholarship

Meanwhile, candidate LHN (in Ho Chi Minh City) received a message via Zalo from Saigon International University - SIU congratulating him on winning the 2024 talent scholarship.

The message reads: "You have had wonderful things with SIU, career orientation with experts, profile code 039... registered on March 3, 2024. Congratulations to LHN for completing the 2024 high school graduation exam!

With the D14 combination of 25 points or more, you will receive 100% of the full tuition fee of the SIU Young Talent Fund scholarship when considering the 2024 High School Exam scores and being admitted to one of the 29 majors being trained at SIU. Choose the SIU school code, place your first choice and your favorite major code on the common system of the Ministry of Education and Training to receive a great scholarship from SIU...".

"My child did not apply to this school, but I don't know where the school got the phone number and test score data to send messages like this... My child is really worried that his personal information was exposed like this," N.'s parent reported.

Please come to school to confirm admission.

Many candidates who registered for early admission to the Forestry University branch in Dong Nai province are confused because they received "notice of admission to the regular university program in 2024" from this school.

It is worth noting in this announcement that the school confirmed that the candidate "was admitted based on the admission method based on high school academic results" (transcript). At the same time, the candidate is invited to come to the school to complete the admission confirmation procedure on July 28, 2024 at the school in Trang Bom district, Dong Nai province.

The school also requires that "when coming to enroll, candidates must bring" all kinds of documents and records exactly like the official enrollment. And lists in detail the tuition and fees: provisional tuition, enrollment fee - student card, insurance, dormitory fee... Candidates can pay in cash or by bank transfer.

The school notes: "Candidates need to prepare the above documents and put them in a file bag. After 15 days from the date of admission, if candidates do not come to complete the admission procedures, it will be considered as refusing admission."

What do schools say?

Regarding the above incident, a representative of FPT University affirmed: "The school does not have a policy of collecting early admission fees according to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training. If there is a fee, it is probably to hold a scholarship for candidates who are granted a scholarship. Candidates who do not receive a scholarship do not need to hold a seat. The content of the candidate's money transfer is GCHB (scholarship hold)".

Responding to the question of whether candidates who have transferred money to hold a scholarship will get a refund if they do not enroll, the school representative said that the school has a regulation that is announced from the beginning, in the spirit of converting it into tuition upon enrollment or refunding 50%.

Mr. Cao Quang Tu, SIU admissions director, also affirmed that the school is implementing the correct admissions procedures according to the instructions in the ministry's general schedule.

"This is information about SIU's "Young Talent" scholarship for students. SIU provides information so that if students are eligible, they can receive the scholarship as the school has announced its 2024 scholarship policy.

SIU wishes to contribute to the community to bring more opportunities for university education to students not only in Ho Chi Minh City but also in other provinces, especially those with difficult circumstances but always maintain the will to succeed.

The school will notify students in general if they have scholarship scores based on the information provided by students during counseling activities during annual career fairs and admissions days at high schools," Mr. Tu explained.

Explaining the notice inviting candidates to the school to enroll, a representative of the Forestry University branch in Dong Nai province said: "On July 28, the school will organize a tour for parents and candidates and support them in registering their wishes on the ministry's system, not enrolling them."

This morning, July 28, speaking with Tuoi Tre Online , the school representative said that immediately after receiving the above information from the reporter, yesterday, July 27, the school sent an email back to the candidates to notify them: "This is just a program for consulting, career orientation and supporting candidates to register and adjust their admission wishes online and the official admission date is August 19."
