Mr. Le Xuan Tan, General Director of TNH Hospital Group Joint Stock Company, emphasized that digital transformation is a vital task, especially for private hospitals if they want to compete with public hospitals.

Currently, TNH has completed the implementation of electronic medical records throughout the system ahead of the deadline set by the Prime Minister (September 30, 2025), and at the same time applied modern management systems such as HIS, LIS, PACS to quickly connect diagnostic imaging, testing and patient data.

Not only stopping at core technology, TNH also applies artificial intelligence (AI) to support diagnosis, automatically record conversations between doctors and patients, and integrate test results faster and more accurately.

At Medlatec Healthcare System, Mr. Bui Le Ha, Director of Digital Transformation Center of Medlatec General Hospital, also affirmed that technology is an indispensable foundation in operating large systems. Management systems such as HIS, LIS, PACS are all built by internal engineers, helping to proactively and master core technology. In addition, Medlatec also develops applications for appointment scheduling, health record tracking (“My Medlatec”) and applications for doctors (“Doctor Medlatec”).

Thanks to the extensive application of technology, the waiting time for examination and results at Medlatec has been reduced to only 30% compared to before; X-ray service returns results within 30 minutes, other tests return results within the day with a customer satisfaction rate of 90%.

At Duc Minh General Hospital ( Ha Giang , now Tuyen Quang), from the beginning, the hospital applied electronic medical records in all departments, helping to shorten and make the medical examination and treatment process transparent. Similarly, the Hai Phong International General Hospital and Hai Phong International Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital have achieved many successes thanks to the application of digital technology.

Although identifying technology as a prerequisite for development, both TNH and Medlatec admit that the initial investment costs are very large and it is difficult to demonstrate immediate economic efficiency. Mr. Ha proposed that the State should have specific guidelines on digital transformation of healthcare, human resource training policies and the construction of provincial or national data centers to support private hospitals.

Mr. Le Xuan Tan said that private hospitals must be superior to public hospitals in terms of technology, equipment, facilities and service attitude, which is an important competitive advantage.

However, leaders also pointed out many obstacles that prevent digital transformation from reaching its full potential, such as some localities still requiring film printing in health insurance payments despite applying a PACS system that does not print films; lack of data interconnectivity standards and a legal framework on AI; the cost of building large data storage infrastructure beyond the capacity of many private hospitals; and a lack of "hybrid" human resources between technology and medicine.

According to Dr. Nguyen Bao Uyen, CEO of Hop Luc Healthcare System, digital transformation is a process of comprehensive restructuring of organization, operation and service in hospitals. The investment cost is large but necessary, requiring detailed planning, testing, proper training and selection of suitable suppliers.
