In order to enhance the capacity to adapt to the trend of sustainable development, the 2025 Central Highlands Business Conference especially emphasized the content of green transformation - a topical and strategic topic, in line with the orientation of developing a circular economy , reducing emissions and adapting to climate change in Vietnam.
Environmental monitoring in industrial parks in Da Nang city.
The results show that most industrial manufacturing enterprises in the region have implemented some energy-saving, emission reduction and environmental protection activities. However, they are still passive, mainly due to requirements from customers or management agencies, lacking a green transformation and sustainable development strategy.
Many international standards related to CO₂ reduction and sustainable development have not been widely disseminated. Except for a few enterprises in the textile, seafood processing, wood processing industries... that are required by import partners to implement, the majority do not clearly understand the requirements and roadmap.
Enterprises' understanding and awareness of energy saving, greenhouse gas emission reduction, and green transformation are not yet complete, and there are still large differences between enterprise groups. Enterprises using major energy have higher understanding and awareness of saving raw materials and greenhouse gas inventory than small-scale energy-using enterprises.
Enterprises exporting products to the EU have better experience and understanding of environmental regulations, waste, etc. because they have to comply with the requirements of the importing unit. Similarly, manufacturing enterprises in different industries also have different understanding and needs regarding saving raw materials, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, green transformation, sustainability, etc. to meet the regulations of the Government and international customers.
The potential for green transformation is still quite high in the business community. However, due to difficulties in human resources, capacity and finance, most businesses have plans for medium-term (3-5 years) and long-term (over 5 years) implementation because they are still waiting for the stability of the market.
In particular, the survey results of VCCI Central Highlands also recorded the recommendations of experts that green transformation is no longer a choice but a matter of compliance, positioning of competitive capacity and shaping and creating sustainable development for enterprises.
Therefore, many enterprises wish to receive synchronous support in policies such as tax incentives, green finance, human resource training and especially a mechanism for accessing transparent information on environmental technology.
“VCCI Central Highlands hopes that this conference will create a strong consensus in the business community on the pioneering role in sustainable development, while promoting the formation of cooperation, investment and innovation models towards the national green growth goal,” said Mr. Nguyen Tien Quang.
