Nightlife with the stars: Singer Tong Hao Nhien had to hide from his family to pursue art

Sharing with MC Minh Ngoc, Tong Hao Nhien said he grew up in the spotlight, following his parents on tour across the country. The cheers of the audience and the long performances became unforgettable childhood memories for him. He stepped on stage for the first time when he was only 4 years old, his parents guided him through every line and gesture. However, when he grew up, his family did not guide him in his career. His parents wanted him to focus on his studies, and he gradually moved away from the spotlight.

Although he tried to stay away from art, but "the profession was in his blood", Tong Hao Nhien still found it. In 6th grade, he participated in the film Coi Tinh by director Le Cung Bac, the first experience in his life ignited his love for acting. However, because of his outstanding height compared to his age at that time, it was difficult for him to get roles, his film career was interrupted, he continued to go to school as his parents wished.

After graduating, Tong Hao Nhien decided to try his hand at singing and forming a band. By chance, he met teacher Huynh Loi, who encouraged him to study music and work in the studio. During this period, he connected with musician Yen Lam, who opened up a new direction for him in composing.

After 6 years of accumulating musical experience, Tong Hao Nhien began to compose his first songs. Luckily, his first song was bought by singer Phuong Thanh. "The first time I received money from selling a song was also a great motivation for me," Tong Hao Nhien shared.

In his composing career, he wrote many popular songs. Among them, Night Wind is his mother's favorite song. Peach Blossom Girl (Peach Blossom Is Me) is a song that marked a milestone in his composing career.

During his time working in the studio, he thought his artistic journey would stop there, with no more chance to step onto the stage. It was only when musician Yen Lam encouraged him, as if giving him the green light, that Hao Nhien boldly returned. When making his first album, Hao Nhien put all his energy into experimenting with many different genres. As time went on, he became more meticulous and careful in each composition.

An interesting story shared by Tong Hao Nhien is that his mother - Meritorious Artist Kim Phuong did not know that her son was working in the arts under the stage name "Tong Hao Nhien". Only when singer Phuong Thanh praised him in front of her mother, she was surprised and called her son to ask.

Tong Hao Nhien confided that the reason for not sharing early was because he wanted to wait until he had certain achievements before daring to share so as not to worry his family. “Usually, when there are achievements, everyone wants to show off to get their family's support. But at that time, I had just started making an album, not knowing whether the path I chose was right or not. If it was good, it would be fine, but if it was not good, it would affect my parents. So I thought I had to wait until I had clear results before sharing,” the male artist confided.

Currently, Tong Hao Nhien has just completed a TV series soundtrack project that will be broadcast on THVL. He hopes that the product will be well received by the audience and be a new step forward in his artistic journey.
