Sweet first time for CAHN Club

The 2-0 victory over PSM Makassar in the second leg of the Southeast Asian Cup C1 semi-final helped Hanoi Police Club (CAHN Club) successfully reverse the situation and enter the final. This is a historic milestone for CAHN Club in particular and Vietnamese football in general.

In their first time stepping out into the "big sea", CAHN Club went straight to the final. Since Vietnamese football became professional, CAHN Club is the first Vietnamese team to be present in the championship match of an international tournament in their first time participating in the tournament.

Previously, Vietnamese football had representatives who advanced far in international tournaments, such as Binh Duong Club reaching the semi-finals of the AFC Cup 2009.

In the Southeast Asian Cup 1, CAHN Club was the only team to win all the matches in the group stage, defeating Buriram United (Thailand), Lion City Sailors (Singapore), Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), Borneo Samarinda (Indonesia) and Kaya FC (Philippines) to take the top spot with 15 points. With 15 goals scored, CAHN Club was also the most effective attacking team in the group stage.

In the semi-finals, CAHN Club lost 0-1 to PSM Makassar (Indonesia) in the first leg despite creating many scoring opportunities. However, in the second leg rematch on the evening of April 30 at Hang Day Stadium, CAHN Club won 2-0 to come from behind to enter the final. Here, the opponent of Mr. Polking and his team is the winner of the semi-final match between Buriram United and BG Pathum. Both teams (the predecessor of BG Pathum is Bangkok Glass) are familiar with Coach Polking.
