Preschool teacher repeatedly beat 22-month-old child because of 'family problems'

On the morning of April 16, while checking the surveillance camera at her 22-month-old daughter's preschool class, Ms. Duong Thi Thuong (27 years old, residing in Thi Cau ward, Bac Ninh city, Bac Ninh province) discovered that teacher MA dragged the girl into a corner hidden from the camera and slapped her repeatedly.

This person then carried the girl to another corner and continued to commit acts of violence.

Surveillance camera recorded the scene of the teacher picking up the little girl and committing a violent act.

"I was extremely upset. I had heard many cases of teachers abusing children. I never thought it would happen to my own child," the mother said.

Immediately, Ms. Thuong went to school to pick up her daughter and saw HA crying loudly, still not stopping crying even at mealtime. She requested to work with teacher MA and the Board of Directors of May Dap Cau Kindergarten about the abuse of her daughter.

The female teacher apologized to the parents, explaining that "due to family issues, she could not control her emotions and accidentally hit the child." The mother did not accept the apology and asked the school board to handle the teacher according to regulations.

She also submitted a petition to Thi Cau Ward Police and the Department of Education and Training of Bac Ninh City.

"If you're in a bad mood, do you have the right to hit other people? The school has surveillance cameras, but the teacher still dares to do that. Without supervision, what would happen?", Ms. Thuong said.

At noon of the same day, representatives of May Dap Cau Kindergarten and teacher MA came to the house to apologize and ask about baby HA's health. The school representative said that teacher MA had been suspended to verify the incident.

"Our view is that teachers who commit violations will be dealt with accordingly," he said.

Ms. Thuong has sent her child HA to May Dap Cau Kindergarten since September 2024. The school is near her house, so it is convenient for her to take her child to and from school every day. A few weeks ago, the mother noticed that her child was showing signs of "fear" and "not wanting to go to class".

"My family does not condone child abuse, to avoid other children falling into similar situations," the mother said.
