Ensuring the safety of the power grid system during the storm season of 2025

To proactively respond to natural disasters, ensure the safety of the power supply system and minimize damage caused by natural disasters, especially during the 2025 storm season, on May 22, the Department of Industry and Trade issued a document requesting electricity transmission, distribution and retail units and investors in power projects in the province to develop plans to ensure safe and stable power supply to minimize damage when power grid incidents occur due to natural disasters and storms.

Strengthen inspection and supervision of electrical works under management to promptly detect damage and defects that may cause electrical system incidents for early handling and repair.

Actively coordinate with local authorities and people to thoroughly implement the cutting and pruning of trees inside and outside the high-voltage power grid safety corridor that may affect the power grid. At the same time, step up propaganda and resolutely prevent kite flying in areas with overhead power lines to ensure human safety and prevent power grid incidents.

Arrange adequate supplies and spare equipment and increase on-duty forces to promptly handle incidents, especially during storms, to ensure safe and stable power supply and effectively serve the work of natural disaster prevention, control, search and rescue.

Do not stop or reduce the power supply according to the plan of the electricity seller to serve the repair, maintenance, overhaul, construction and installation of electrical works or other purposes during storms, to ensure continuous, safe and stable power supply.

Widely notify organizations and people of the phone number and contact address of the standing department to receive information about incidents or unusual phenomena related to the power grid system, in order to promptly handle and ensure safe operation.

Strengthen propaganda and instruct electricity users to check, review and promptly reinforce and upgrade the electrical wiring system after the meter to prevent unsafe incidents during the rainy and stormy season. Request households using electricity to replace wires after the meter that do not meet technical standards, temporary wires that are at risk of causing short circuits and unsafe electricity supply and use.
