'Coach Mill' in Binh Duong, new but not new

Coach Nguyen Cong Manh started leading Binh Duong from round 10, after coach Hoang Anh Tuan left the team. However, in 12 matches as captain, he only helped the team win 4, draw 2 and receive 6 defeats. In early April, coach Cong Manh submitted his resignation after a series of bad matches, but was retained by the board of directors. Up to now, after the 6th consecutive loss, the coach's seat of Binh Duong has changed hands once again.

But this is not unusual for the team in the land of Thu, which has long been considered a "mill" of coaches. Just since 2020, when coach Phan Thanh Hung resigned due to health problems, nearly a dozen coaches have taken over.

The longest one sat for only a few months, the rest were mostly stopgap measures. Coaches like Nguyen Thanh Son, Dang Tran Chinh, Lu Dinh Tuan, Nguyen Quoc Tuan all “taught classes” but could not last.

Even a veteran coach like Le Huynh Duc only led the team for a few rounds before “giving way” to coach Hoang Anh Tuan. Unfortunately, for the first time “holding” a V.League team with a strong team, Mr. Tuan did not last long.

The appointment of Coach Nguyen Anh Duc this time is both a situational choice and a hope for change. Anh Duc is a living legend of the team, having grown up at Binh Duong training center, been with the team for more than a decade, played for the national team and worked as an assistant to Coach Park Hang-seo.

However, as a coach, Anh Duc has never led any V.League team. His coaching experience currently only stops at Binh Phuoc Club in the First Division or a few teams in the same division.

At the age of 39, Anh Duc faces the biggest challenge of his career, having to carry a team that is exhausted both mentally and professionally. Binh Duong is currently only 5 points above the "red light" group, the attack line is playing ineffectively despite having many notable names such as Tien Linh, Duc Chinh, Minh Trong, Minh Khoa.

Fans expect an icon like Anh Duc to revive the team in the final stages of the season. But at a club where the lifespan of coaches is always short, questions about the future of coach Nguyen Anh Duc, no matter how brilliant his past, are still inevitable.
