Con Dao: First time performing endoscopic surgery on a patient

On the afternoon of September 6, the Con Dao Military-Civilian Medical Center (HCMC) successfully performed laparoscopic surgery to remove appendicitis on a 36-year-old male patient – ​​marking the first time this advanced technique was deployed locally.

The team of surgeons and anesthesiologists from Binh Dan Hospital and Con Dao Military-Civilian Medical Center prepare for the first endoscopic surgery in Con Dao.

Previously, the patient was admitted to the hospital with symptoms of pain in the right iliac fossa. Through examination, testing and ultrasound, doctors diagnosed acute appendicitis. Dr. Ly Bao Duy, a doctor at Binh Dan Hospital who is working at the Con Dao Military-Civilian Medical Center, had a remote consultation with the Board of Directors of Binh Dan Hospital and was assigned to perform surgery.

With the newly equipped modern endoscopic surgery system, the surgery was performed at 4:00 p.m. the same day, and went smoothly and successfully.

This is an important step in improving the quality of medical examination and treatment for Con Dao people, helping to reduce pressure on referrals and support timely emergency care right at the local level.
