In the early morning of July 31, while patrolling Hamlet 7, Loc Hung Commune, the Commune Police working group discovered a Java pangolin (Manis Javanica) - an extremely rare wild animal belonging to Group IB, wandering on a deserted dirt road. The Commune Police quickly protected the pangolin and reported to the leaders to take the next steps in accordance with the law.

That same night, Loc Hung Commune Police contacted and coordinated with the Propaganda, Tourism, Rescue and Conservation Center of Bu Gia Map National Park and Forest Protection Department of Region 10 to hand over this 5kg, 30cm long pangolin, ensuring care and recovery in suitable conditions.

The Javan pangolin is a critically endangered species due to illegal hunting and trade. The commune police also called on people to raise awareness and not participate in hunting, captivity or trading of wild animals. Any discovery must be reported immediately to the authorities for timely and legal handling.
