According to experts, if you are looking for the easiest and most efficient option, Adobe Podcast is the best choice for you. It also offers the most free uploads , as well as 3 hours of free usage per day.

Audo Studio is rated as the second choice, while Descript and Auphonic are close behind. However, it is important that you try all four of these apps yourself to find the best choice that best suits your needs.

And here are the specifics of how each of the above apps can help improve different audio issues:

Noise in the room

While room hum isn't overly noticeable, bringing the sound closer to studio quality helps listeners focus more on the content.

Adobe Podcast is great at this. It makes our voice sound much louder than the rest of the recording. Additionally, you may need to do some additional editing in an app like Audition to balance the volume.

Meanwhile, Audo Studio and Auphonic are not rated as excellent in this ability, although they also have noise reduction features and can also improve sound quality somewhat.

Wind sound

Adobe Podcast also does well with wind noise. Our voice volume is balanced and the wind almost disappears.

Audo Studio is similar, but still retains some of the noise. Meanwhile, Descript does a great job of removing wind, but it also introduces some electronic noise. Finally, Auphonic softens the wind a bit, but it's still noticeable.

Surrounding chatter

Interviews don't always happen in a quiet place, even with other voices in the background. Adobe Podcast can help you in this situation, eliminating background noise while still maintaining the authenticity of the main voice.

Audo Studio also reduces ambient chatter, but leaves an odd whispering sound in the background. Auphonic is rated to not significantly reduce ambient noise.

Street noise

Street noise is full of random sounds that are constantly present, like construction, cars driving by, people talking, honking – all of which are largely unpredictable. Adobe Podcasts significantly reduces background noise.

Audo Studio also reduces noise, but like the other tests, it still leaves some added noise. With Auphonic, ambient noise was still noted to remain in the clip even after processing.

Sudden noise

Finally, there are times when loud and unpredictable noises arise: You're recording in what you think is a quiet environment, but an unexpected noise (like a door closing) disrupts the speaker's and the listener's concentration.

In this regard, Audo Studio was the best at completely eliminating the sound of a door slamming in the middle of a sentence. For the other services, Adobe Podcast reduced the sound of the sudden noise a bit, but it was still noticeable.
