"With the motto "No one is left behind", over the years, the Company's Trade Union has effectively coordinated with professionals to implement a series of deeply humane welfare programs: Housing support for workers, the "Union Shelter" program, giving savings books, health insurance, organizing sleeper buses to pick up and drop off miners, weekend buses to their hometowns, Union meals, regular health check-ups, health recovery tourism ... Each activity demonstrates understanding, sharing and thoughtful care for each specific situation", Mr. Do Quang Trung, Chairman of the Nam Mau Coal Company's Trade Union, shared.
In 2024 alone, the Company accepted and handed over 14 "Union Shelters" to workers' families in difficult circumstances. One of the special cases is Mr. Pham Trong Dai, a worker at the Transport Workshop 2. The family has many children, the wife is a low-income garment worker, the mother is old and sick, the whole family used to live in a dilapidated level 4 house. Last year's storm No. 3 ( Yagi ) blew the roof off, leaving them with no shelter.
Faced with this situation, the Company’s Union proposed to support 120 million VND from the Vietnam Coal and Minerals Union (80 million VND) and the Company’s welfare fund (40 million VND). Thanks to the valuable encouragement, Mr. Dai boldly borrowed more to build a new, spacious house worth more than 500 million VND. The house became a great gift for his whole family after many years of living in poverty.
Mr. Pham Trong Dai shared: “My family received enthusiastic support from the TKV Trade Union and the Company Trade Union to build a house and overcome the consequences of Typhoon Yagi. Thanks to that, my wife and I have a stable place to live, welcome Tet 2025 with complete joy and peace of mind at work.”
Not only supporting individuals in difficulty, Nam Mau Coal is also a pioneer in the mining industry in building a model apartment complex for workers, including 4 modern, clean and beautiful houses, providing free accommodation for more than 600 workers. Of which, 39 family apartments are arranged for workers in difficulty or those who have contributed a lot to the Company.
Mr. Hoang Viet Dung, a worker at the Transport Workshop of Kiln 2, is one of those who was allocated a 120m² family apartment. His family of 6 had to rent a cramped room before. Since being able to live for free in a fully furnished apartment, life has been stable, the economic burden has been reduced, and his children have better conditions to study.
Mr. Hoang Viet Dung expressed: “My family has lived in this apartment complex for 5 years. Thanks to the attention of the Company's leaders and the Trade Union at all levels, we have saved a lot of money, have the conditions to take care of our children and accumulate finances for the future.”
Not only a place to live, the apartment complex is also a modern living space with full cultural facilities to serve workers: Gym, table tennis, billiards, library, common living area, playground... helping workers and their families relax and exercise after work.
Sharing about the direction of activities, Mr. Do Quang Trung, Chairman of the Nam Mau Coal Company Union, affirmed: “We clearly define the responsibility of the Union to take comprehensive care of workers, leaving no one behind. Each union member and worker is a member of a big family, and the Union will always accompany them to protect their rights, improve their lives, and motivate them to stay committed to their profession.”
