Vietnam Trade Union is closely connected with the working class and strives wholeheartedly for the interests of the working class.

On the morning of July 28, in Hanoi , the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor held the 4th "Nguyen Van Linh Award" awarding ceremony; commending the 5th outstanding grassroots union chairmen and grassroots unions nationwide and receiving the First Class Labor Medal.

Attending the event were Comrade Tran Thanh Man - Politburo member, Chairman of the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam; Party Central Committee members: Nguyen Dinh Khang, President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor; Bui Thanh Son, Minister of Foreign Affairs; Bui Van Cuong, Secretary General of the National Assembly, Head of the National Assembly Office; Nguyen Thuy Anh, Head of the Social Committee; Nguyen Dac Vinh, Head of the National Assembly's Culture and Education Committee; Representatives of central ministries, departments and branches; and leaders of the General Confederation through the periods.

Delegates performed the flag-saluting ceremony and observed a minute of silence for General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, expressing their respect and deep gratitude to the excellent student of the great President Ho Chi Minh , who always had special affection and attention for the working class and the Vietnam Trade Union.

Reviewing the glorious and proud tradition of the Vietnam Trade Union over the past 95 years, the President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor emotionally shared: “Reviewing the glorious tradition of the Vietnam Trade Union, we are more deeply moved and express our infinite gratitude to President Ho Chi Minh, the genius leader of our Party and people, the great teacher of the revolution and the working class of Vietnam, who together with the Party led the Vietnam Trade Union, trained generations of union cadres and members to become excellent children, selflessly striving for the ideal of national independence and socialism.

We respectfully remember the previous generations of revolutionaries, heroic martyrs, trade union officials at all levels, and union members who have devoted themselves, worked, fought tenaciously, and heroically sacrificed in the cause of national liberation and reunification, in the cause of building and defending the socialist Vietnamese Fatherland.

Continuing the tradition of previous generations, today's generation of union officials is constantly pondering, exploring, proactively innovating, and dedicating all their efforts to the sacred and noble goal of ensuring jobs, improving income, and raising the living standards of union members and workers.

Warmly praising, recognizing and congratulating the outstanding achievements of 10 union officials who received the Nguyen Van Linh Award and 95 outstanding grassroots union and trade union chairmen nationwide this time, comrade Nguyen Dinh Khang said that although they are different in age, working position, time working with the union organization, field and area of operation, they all have one thing in common, which is the close bond with union members and workers, taking care of their worries and joys, being supported and trusted by union members and workers, and being trusted and agreed with by leaders at all levels.

"With enthusiasm, high responsibility, and a spirit of constant innovation and creativity, through specific and practical actions, you have helped union members and workers better understand, trust and attach to the Trade Union organization. Each convincing word and action of you comrades is a vivid expression of the efforts to realize the goal of building the Vietnam Trade Union into a truly organization of workers, by workers and for workers" - Comrade Nguyen Dinh Khang affirmed.

Over the past 95 years, under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the Vietnam Trade Union has made worthy contributions to the great victory of the Vietnamese revolution and has been awarded many noble prizes by the Party and State.

In the past 5 years, upholding tradition, trade unions at all levels have strived to fulfill their duties of representing, caring for, and protecting the rights of workers, launching and implementing patriotic emulation movements, participating in building the Party and the political system, and playing a core role in building the Vietnamese working class. In recognition of the outstanding achievements of the Vietnam Trade Union in the past 5 years, the Party and State have decided to award the First Class Labor Medal.

Speaking at the ceremony, on behalf of the Party and State leaders, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man congratulated the achievements that the Trade Union organization, union members and workers have made over the past 95 years.

The National Assembly Chairman affirmed: After 95 years of establishment and development, the Vietnam Trade Union has continuously grown and matured, accompanied the nation, been a reliable and loyal support of the Party, wholeheartedly strived for the interests of the working class and laborers, and made important and direct contributions to the great victory of the Vietnamese revolution. The working class and trade union organizations have always been the leading force in the cause of industrialization and modernization of the country.

On behalf of the Party and State leaders, the National Assembly Chairman warmly commended the efforts and contributions of the Trade Union organization, union members and workers nationwide over the past 95 years; congratulated 10 outstanding Trade Union officials who were awarded the Nguyen Van Linh Award and 95 outstanding and outstanding grassroots trade union and labor union chairmen who were awarded the award.

Comrade Tran Thanh Man said: the need to promote industrialization, modernization, and increasingly deep international integration and the impact of the 4.0 industrial revolution pose new opportunities and challenges for trade union organizations. In addition to job opportunities, access to science and technology, and participation in the global value chain, businesses and workers require constant efforts to improve labor productivity, management capacity, and competitiveness.

In addition, implementing international commitments on labor in new-generation free trade agreements requires Vietnam's Trade Union to strongly and comprehensively innovate, affirming its core and direct role in caring for and building a modern and strong working class.

Therefore, the National Assembly Chairman requested that trade unions at all levels continue to effectively implement the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress; Resolution No. 02 of the Politburo on innovation of the organization and operation of Vietnam Trade Unions in the new situation and the Party's guidelines and policies, and the State's laws and policies on trade union organization and operation.

Along with that, the trade union organization regularly conducts social supervision and criticism and participates in building the Party and government at all levels, building a strong enough trade union resource to meet the tasks that the Party, State, society and all workers and employees trust and assign.

Timely advise the Party and the State on issues related to employment, workers' lives and organizing activities of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor; grasp the situation of employment, income, life, listen to the aspirations of workers and trade union officials to develop programs and plans; organize and implement resolutely and effectively, focusing on strongly applying information technology in all trade union activities; innovate propaganda and mobilization work, take care of training to improve political capacity, educational level, professional skills, industrial style, labor discipline, legal awareness of union members and workers; ensure labor safety and hygiene for workers.

In addition, trade unions at all levels proactively contributed to the preparation process for the 14th National Party Congress, effectively promoted the implementation of laws and resolutions of the National Assembly, including many new regulations and policies related to workers; promptly deployed regulations on reforming wage policies, adjusting pensions, social insurance benefits, monthly allowances, preferential allowances for meritorious people and a number of other social security policies effective from July 1, 2024.

The National Assembly Chairman added that the 7th session of the 15th National Assembly gave its first comments on the revised Trade Union Law with many new requirements and tasks for trade union organizations. It is expected that the National Assembly will consider and approve it at the upcoming 8th session.

Therefore, the National Assembly Chairman hopes that the exemplary union officials honored today will strongly spread the spirit of innovation, creativity, and continuous striving among union officials at all levels; and that there will be more exemplary union officials who deserve to receive awards, commendations, and honors in the following years.

Referring to General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man expressed: during his lifetime, the General Secretary always had special affection for affirming the important position and trust and expectations for the working class and the Vietnam Trade Union. Therefore, comrade Tran Thanh Man hopes that trade unions at all levels will make more efforts and be determined to realize his wish that the 2023-2028 term will aim to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Trade Union.

At the same time, we believe that the trade union organization and the Vietnamese workers' movement will certainly have new developments, achieve even greater and more impressive achievements, make worthy contributions to the renovation process, successfully carry out the cause of industrialization and modernization of the country, contribute to the historical mission of the working class towards the country and the nation, and build Vietnam to be increasingly rich, strong, democratic, fair and civilized.
