Major corruption cases were "named" on the National Assembly forum

(Dan Tri) - Rescue flight, Viet A, Van Thinh Phat, Tan Hoang Minh, Xuyen Viet Oil, Phuc Son Group, Thuan An... are major cases mentioned in the term summary report of the Supreme People's Court and the Supreme People's Procuracy.

On the afternoon of October 20, the National Assembly listened to work reports for the 2021-2026 term of the Supreme People's Court and the Supreme People's Procuracy.

Regarding the work of the court during the term, Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court Le Minh Tri stated the context of the complicated crime situation, operating with sophisticated and daring methods and tricks, and of a transnational nature.

Along with that, civil disputes and administrative complaints are increasing in number and becoming increasingly complex in nature.

In that context, the Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court has directed courts at all levels to strengthen discipline and public service discipline, focus on leadership and direction to speed up the progress and quality of resolving and adjudicating cases and incidents.

According to the report, during the term, the courts accepted more than 2.7 million cases and resolved more than 2.6 million cases, reaching a rate of 97.64%.

In particular, the trial was ensured to be strict, correct in terms of the person, the crime, and the law, and no cases of wrongful conviction of innocent people were discovered.

The Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court also affirmed that many cases under the supervision and direction of the Central Steering Committee on Anti-Corruption, Wastefulness and Negativity have been strictly handled, such as the cases of Nhat Cuong, Tan Hiep Phat, Viet A, Tan Hoang Minh...

The work of recovering lost and misappropriated assets in corruption and economic cases has been focused on and achieved results.

However, in addition, the operations of the courts still face a number of difficulties, obstacles and limitations, such as some judgments and decisions being revised; some cases of incomplete evidence collection and evaluation...

Among many key tasks in the coming period, the Chief Justice emphasized the determination to build a strict and honest court; to build a team of officials, especially heads of courts at all levels, with strong political will, deep expertise, clear ethics, strict discipline, courage to protect what is right, and resolutely fight against what is wrong.

Reporting on the work of the Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Procuracy for the 2021-2026 term, Chief Justice Nguyen Huy Tien affirmed that this agency has resolutely and synchronously implemented many solutions, creating positive and comprehensive changes, especially in preventing and combating injustice, mistakes, and missed crimes.

Regarding the prosecution and supervision work in the criminal field, the Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Procuracy has directed the implementation of proactive prosecution according to the 4S motto "earlier, closer, deeper, sharper"; synchronously implementing many breakthrough solutions in professional matters, preventing injustice, mistakes and missed crimes; not criminalizing economic and civil relations and vice versa.

In particular, the prosecution sector has coordinated to strictly handle 18,980 cases with 41,142 defendants for economic and corruption crimes, including many cases under the supervision and direction of the Central Steering Committee on Anti-Corruption, Wastefulness and Negativity.

Typical cases include the Rescue Flight case, Viet A, the case that occurred at the Registry Department, Van Thinh Phat, Tan Hoang Minh, Xuyen Viet Oil, the case related to Phuc Son Group, Thuan An....

The prosecution also applied security measures to recover more than VND74,769 billion, according to the term summary report.

Referring to the key tasks of the coming term, the Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Procuracy emphasized that he would strengthen the capacity of the Supreme People's Procuracy's investigation agency, ensuring the integrity and transparency of judicial agencies. He also affirmed the spirit of timely and strict handling of cases and incidents monitored and directed by the Central Steering Committee on preventing and combating corruption, waste and negativity.

Besides, according to Mr. Tien, it is necessary to innovate the work of evaluating and using cadres according to the key performance indicators (KPI); promote responsibility and standards of public service ethics; attract and use talents, discover and train young cadres; protect dynamic, creative cadres who dare to think, dare to do, dare to take responsibility for the common interest.
