This year, marking the Award’s 5th anniversary, the Week will feature many new activities, notably the VinFuture Future Discovery dialogue series, co-organized with leading research institutes and universities in Vietnam.
Held for the first time in 2023, the VinFuture Future Discovery Dialogue series offers opportunities for the domestic scientific community, especially young researchers, to exchange and connect with the leading minds of world science. This year, the event series has expanded its scope to 10 leading research institutes and universities nationwide, bringing together leading scientists from around the world and Vietnam in key fields such as artificial intelligence (AI), medicine, biology, chemistry, energy and environment, etc. Thereby, Vietnamese and international scientists have the opportunity to dialogue, share and find solutions to the great challenges of humanity.
Inspiring young people to pursue science
Associate Professor Dr. Huynh Dang Chinh - Vice President of Hanoi University of Science and Technology affirmed that the annual VinFuture Science and Technology Week is a strategic catalyst to inspire the courage and desire for creativity and dedication of young Vietnamese scientists. Since 2023, Hanoi University of Science and Technology and VinFuture have organized many international scientific seminars and conferences with great influence.

“That is a testament to the spirit of scientific research for humanity - something that VinFuture and Hanoi University of Science and Technology are exchanging and developing together, focusing on nurturing in the young generation the desire for research and the spirit of innovation, contributing to sustainable social development,” Associate Professor Chinh commented.
Witnessing students confidently sharing and interacting with speakers who are big names in the world, Associate Professor Chinh assessed these as valuable opportunities because through them, young scientists of the unit are inspired and have strong enthusiasm. After such events, scientific research and student innovation activities increased in both quantity and quality, with many topics of interest to renewable energy, green materials or AI in agriculture.
“The passion for science that is naturally spread among the young research community is the greatest success of the series of seminars and talks in cooperation with VinFuture,” said Associate Professor Chinh.
Similarly, at the University of Natural Sciences (Vietnam National University, Hanoi), the seminar on “The Future of Artificial Intelligence” in 2024, with the “father of AI” - Professor Yann LeCun - as the speaker, has aroused strong inspiration in the young generation of scientists at the school.
“By learning from the world's leading experts, they will have a broader picture and a more comprehensive view of the field that young specialized high school students, undergraduates, graduate students and researchers are very interested in. When talking with Professor Yann LeCun, students were very excited to learn directly from such leading experts. I believe that many of them have been encouraged, motivated and will be more determined to pursue the field they are interested in,” Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Ha - Deputy Head of the Department of Cooperation and Development of the unit said.

Great expectations are placed on VinFuture Awards Week season 5
Associate Professor, Dr. Kim Bao Giang - Vice Rector in charge of Science, Technology and Postgraduate Training Management, Hanoi Medical University, said that the 2023 workshop with Professor Salim Abdool Karim - Winner of the VinFuture Special Prize for Scientists from Developing Countries in 2021 has opened up opportunities for lecturers, trainees and students to connect with major research groups in the world.
“Through the event with VinFuture, they have 'addresses' to cooperate on new projects or receive advice to better implement ongoing projects and research,” said Associate Professor Giang. This is what the school expects from the four scientific events with leading experts in the fields of cancer, cardiovascular, rehabilitation and neurology that the school will organize with the VinFuture Foundation this season.

Also during the VinFuture 2025 Award Week, the University of Natural Sciences will coordinate with the Foundation to organize a seminar with Prof. Ingolf Steffan-Dewenter (University of Würzburg, Germany; Member of the VinFuture Preliminary Council) - an expert on the impact of climate change and the environment on biodiversity and ecosystems. Assoc. Prof. Ha said that Prof. Steffan-Dewenter's expertise is very close to the training and research strengths of the unit's scientists, so it is expected that the event will gather a large number of scientists inside and outside the school to discuss and propose ideas to serve the needs of sustainable development in Vietnam as well as the world.
He also shared that VinFuture's connecting role is important in the scientific community. According to him, with the companionship and support from VinFuture, connecting with international scientists becomes easier and faster, opening up many opportunities for effective cooperation. Associate Professor Ha also hopes that VinFuture will continue to promote its role as one of the pioneering funds in promoting the development of Vietnamese science through connecting scholars, funding scientific and technological research projects, and especially creating opportunities for exchange, learning, and inspiration for students - future scientists.
That is also the perspective of Hanoi University of Science and Technology on activities within the framework of VinFuture Science and Technology Week 2025.
“We expect VinFuture to continue to honor breakthrough works in fundamental fields such as new materials, automation, mechatronics, semiconductor technology, biotechnology, AI, etc., contributing to promoting international cooperation between schools and research institutes in Vietnam and the world's leading universities,” Associate Professor Chinh shared.
