Cong Phuong faces Bui Tien Dung in the death play-off match

Binh Phuoc has won the right to play in the V.League promotion play-off match after defeating Long An in the 22nd round of the First Division on the afternoon of June 21. Their opponent will be Da Nang, the team ranked second to last in the 2024/25 V.League after 26 rounds. The decisive match will take place at 6:00 p.m. on June 27.

This match is especially interesting because of the match between Cong Phuong and goalkeeper Bui Tien Dung. These are two names who have played together in the U23 Vietnam team, the national team, and also played together for Ho Chi Minh City. They understand each other's playing style, promising to create interesting intellectual situations on the field.

Da Nang has a big advantage in terms of experience in the V.League arena, along with the stable performance of Bui Tien Dung under the guidance of coach Le Duc Tuan. Meanwhile, Binh Phuoc, despite having a team of veterans who have fought in the highest league, is still rated lower because they are not used to the fierce pace of the V.League.

One notable point is that this season's play-off will not have the participation of foreign players, helping the two teams compete in more balanced conditions. However, historical statistics are leaning towards the V.League teams. Over the past 20 years, very few lower-ranked representatives have been able to win the play-off match. Last season, Ha Tinh successfully overcame PVF-CAND to stay in the league.

To ensure fairness, VPF has invited foreign referees and VAR referees to officiate the match. This will be a life-or-death match, and neither Da Nang nor Binh Phuoc are allowed to make mistakes.
