(Dan Tri) - The first round of Group B of the Southeast Asian Women's Football Tournament took place this evening (August 7) ​​in Phu Tho with an early surprise. The Myanmar women's team defeated U23 Australia 2-1, while the Philippines beat Timor Leste 7-0.

Australia is the only team to use the U23 squad in the 2025 Southeast Asian Women's Football Championship. This is a tournament rule, due to the difference in the level of football in the land of the kangaroo compared to other football teams in Southeast Asia. Australia must use a young squad to reduce this difference.

The Philippines' goals in this match were scored by Schinaman in the 2nd minute, Quezada in the 7th and 32nd minutes, Hali Long in the 9th minute, Tolentin in the 57th and 64th minutes, and Wyrzynski in the 75th minute.

This victory helps the Philippines temporarily lead Group B after the first round of matches. Second place is Myanmar, followed by the U23 teams Australia and Timor Leste.

On August 10, Myanmar will face the underdog Timor Leste. Meanwhile, U23 Australia will face the Philippines.
