Nghi Son 2 Power Company Limited and Doosan Group of Korea cooperate to develop clean energy

At the Vietnam - Korea Business Forum held in Hanoi , 111 memorandums of understanding (MOUs) in 20 fields were signed. In particular, Nghi Son 2 Power Company Limited and Doosan Group of Korea signed a memorandum of understanding in the energy sector, to study the application of decarbonization solutions in electricity production.

At the Vietnam - Korea business forum, witnessed by leaders of Vietnam and Korea, the cooperating enterprises exchanged cooperation minutes.

It is known that Nghi Son 2 BOT Thermal Power Plant is invested by KEPCO Electric Power Corporation, Korea and Marubeni Corporation, Tohuku Electric Power Company, Japan. With a total investment of nearly 2.8 billion USD, this is the second largest key industrial project after Nghi Son Oil Refinery and Petrochemical Complex. The plant has supercritical technology, uses fuel efficiently, and meets international and Vietnamese standards.

Mr. Yeonin Jung, Chairman of Doosan of Korea and Mr. Hirohide Sagara, General Director of Nghi Son 2 Thanh Hoa Power Company Limited are pleased to cooperate together in the energy sector.

In order to continue reducing coal consumption, greenhouse gas emissions and environmental pollution, Nghi Son 2 Power Company Limited has signed an agreement with Doosan Group of Korea, in which Doosan will conduct experimental research to burn alternative fuels other than coal, and at the same time research to find technological solutions to ensure that burning alternative fuels such as ammonia and biomass can still ensure efficiency and capacity like burning coal.

Mr. Hirohide Sagara, General Director of Nghi Son 2 Thanh Hoa Power Company Limited, evaluated the cooperation with Doosan Group of Korea.

Mr. Hirohide Sagara, General Director of Nghi Son 2 Thanh Hoa Power Company Limited, said: Since the Nghi Son 2 BOT Thermal Power Plant began commercial operation, Nghi Son 2 Power Company Limited has always aimed for a green operation process to reduce carbon emissions. The cooperation with Doosan Group of Korea will help Nghi Son 2 BOT Thermal Power Plant have more solutions for green operation using clean energy sources.

Mr. Hirohide Sagara, General Director of Nghi Son 2 Thanh Hoa Power Company Limited, answered an interview with Thanh Hoa Radio and Television Station.

Nghi Son 2 BOT Thermal Power Plant has a capacity of 1,200 MW, is a thermal power project applying modern technology, playing the role of one of the important "nuclei" and the driving force to promote the development of Nghi Son Economic Zone, gradually achieving the goal of building Nghi Son into a key economic zone of the country in the coming years, having a strong influence on the economic development of the North Central region and the whole country. And the next step in the green operation journey of the plant will contribute significantly to the successful implementation of the goal of reducing net emissions to zero by 2050 that the Vietnamese Government committed to at COP 26.
