The CPI increase is assessed to be consistent with market developments and within the Government 's target of controlling inflation below 4%.
On average, in the first 10 months of 2025, core inflation increased by 3.20% over the same period last year, lower than the average CPI increase of 3.27%, showing that the price and monetary control policy is operating in the right direction, helping to curb inflation without slowing economic growth. The increase is also assessed to be consistent with market developments and within the Government's target of controlling inflation below 4%.
According to the General Statistics Office, the main reasons for the CPI increase in October were the increase in food prices in provinces and cities affected by floods; the price of eating out increased due to the cost of raw materials; and the adjustment of tuition fees for non-public education services for the new school year. Housing, electricity and water, construction materials, clothing, household appliances, etc. groups increased slightly, reflecting the recovery in consumer demand and the trend of increasing production costs at the end of the year.
Since the beginning of the year, the CPI has increased in 9 months and decreased in 1 month compared to the previous month. On average, the CPI increased by 0.28% per month, lower than the same period in 2024. The main factors that increased the CPI include the food and catering services group (up 3.18%), housing and construction materials group (up 6.2%), medicine and medical services group (up 13.39%) and education group (up 1.95%).
On the contrary, the transportation group decreased by 2.61% and the post and telecommunications group decreased by 0.48%, contributing to curbing the overall increase of CPI.
In general, maintaining a slight increase in CPI and core inflation lower than the target level shows the effectiveness of the Government's price management, money supply control, and coordination of fiscal and monetary policies. The price level is still well controlled, creating favorable conditions for growth recovery and stabilizing people's lives./.
