(Chinhphu.vn) - On the afternoon of November 6, right before storm No. 13 made landfall, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha personally inspected preparations for storm prevention, evacuation and arrangement of shelters for people in Quy Nhon Bac ward, Quy Nhon Tuberculosis and Lung Hospital, Quy Nhon Dong ward, and worked directly at the Gia Lai Province Hydrometeorological Center to update the situation and developments of the storm.

At the Gia Lai Province Hydrometeorological Center, the Deputy Prime Minister requested clarification of the time of the strongest winds, wave heights and high tides when the storm makes landfall.

According to expert reports, at around 9-10pm today, the storm will enter the Quy Nhon - Hoai Nhon sea area, right at the time of the highest tide, with a tide height of about 2.4-2.6 m and waves that can reach 7-9 m, exceeding the roofs of houses along the coast.

The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that this is an extremely dangerous resonance condition, with the risk of rising water, erosion and destruction of coastal sand dikes and embankments.

"The coastal area from Quy Nhon to Hoai Nhon must be evacuated immediately, without any further delay. People must not be left in cages, beaches, or temporary houses along the coast when waves can be higher than the roofs," the Deputy Prime Minister directed localities to immediately arrange shelters in the nearest safe area.

The Deputy Prime Minister also emphasized that the most dangerous time for storms and rains will be from 8:00 p.m. today to 8:00 a.m. tomorrow. During this period, all forces must be on duty 24/7, absolutely not leave their positions, and prepare rescue vehicles, life buoys, and mobile forces on site.

At a shelter for residents of Quy Nhon Bac ward, the Deputy Prime Minister visited and encouraged evacuated households, sharing the difficulties of having to leave their homes and properties to ensure safety.

He asked local authorities to provide adequate clean water, blankets, medicine, meals and basic living conditions at shelters; and at the same time requested special attention for the elderly, children, the sick and pregnant women.

During his inspection of Quy Nhon Tuberculosis and Lung Disease Hospital, the Deputy Prime Minister noted that medical facilities, especially hospitals treating seriously ill patients, the elderly, and the disabled, must ensure power sources, oxygen, medicine, and have emergency evacuation plans when necessary.

The Deputy Prime Minister noted that according to forecasts, from 8pm to 11pm today (November 6) will be the time when the wind is strongest and the storm will make landfall directly, right at the time when the tide will rise 2-3m, combined with large waves that can reach 7-9m. This is the most dangerous period, with the risk of seawater encroaching deep into coastal residential areas.

The Deputy Prime Minister requested Gia Lai, Quang Ngai and related provinces to urgently review areas where people have not been evacuated, concentrate maximum forces and remaining time to complete the evacuation, and not let people in level 4 houses, cages, boats or lagoons and estuaries continue to stay when the storm begins to directly affect them.

"The timing is urgent, but we still have to try to do it to the end. We must evacuate thoroughly to ensure the safety of people's lives," the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized, asking localities not to let people stay in unsafe areas when the storm begins to directly affect them.
