Quy Chau voters request clarification of the cause of the historic flood in September

At the conference, comrade Nguyen Van Thong informed about the expected content and agenda of the 2023 year-end meeting of the 17th Provincial People's Council, term 2021-2026. In this meeting, the Provincial People's Council will conduct a question-and-answer session on the current status of land use and management in the whole province; solutions for tourism development in Nghe An.

The conference recorded the opinions of voters of Chau Hoi commune and representatives of departments, branches and sectors of Quy Chau district sent to the provincial People's Council delegates. Most of the voters requested the local government and functional agencies to clarify the cause of the major flood that occurred from the evening of September 26 to the morning of September 27; clarify the flood discharge process of some hydropower plants such as Nhan Hac and Chau Thang that caused flooding, greatly affecting the lives of people in the area. Voters also requested the authorities at all levels and sectors to quickly implement policies to support production recovery and stabilize people's lives.

Voter Luong Thi Ha - Deputy Head of the Department of Education and Training of Quy Chau district expressed her opinion: After the conclusion of the inspection team, Conclusion Notice No. 584 dated August 7, 2023 of the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, the Department of Finance issued Official Dispatch No. 3808/HD-STC dated August 17, 2023 on handling the allowances paid in violation of regulations for the team of teachers seconded to work at the Department of Education and Training. However, the implementation of the above content between districts has not been unified. This issue has affected the life, psychology and spirit of the staff. It is recommended that the Provincial People's Council pay attention to supervision so that the competent authorities have unified direction.

Representatives of the District Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee of Quy Chau district and related units explained the contents under their authority. The district leaders said that to overcome agricultural production, the locality has allocated 500 million VND to support fish fry for aquaculture households that suffered damage. At the same time, support funding for digging and filling up silted fields, helping people to promptly produce winter-spring rice in 2023-2024.

Comrade Nguyen Van Thong - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee said that the opinions at the conference were very practical, and highly appreciated the Party Committee, the government and the local departments and branches for promptly overcoming the impact of the flood on September 26 and 27. The Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee also emphasized that the province is currently synthesizing the damage situation across the province to have a support plan. Along with that, it will invest in building a number of projects to overcome and prevent the impact of natural disasters. He also answered and clarified many issues that Quy Chau voters were interested in.
