The Food Safety Department is reviewing records related to fake functional foods.

On the afternoon of May 18, the Food Safety Department ( Ministry of Health ) said that this agency is reviewing records and providing information on products declared as health protection foods of companies in the fake functional food production chain to serve the investigation to verify and clarify the seized products.

The Food Safety Department recommends that consumers do not buy or use products as posted in the product images.

Previously, the Food Safety Department received information from the Economic Police Department (PC03), Hanoi City Police, that they had dismantled a large-scale counterfeit goods production and trading ring, seizing about 100 tons of counterfeit functional foods and medical equipment. The subjects in the ring had established 17 companies, including 6 companies with the function of importing goods and 11 companies with the function of distributing goods domestically.

While the authorities are handling the matter, the Food Safety Department recommends that consumers absolutely do not buy or use products as shown in the posted product images to avoid health risks and economic losses.

After the conclusion of the Hanoi City Police Investigation Agency, the Food Safety Department will update information on the website about fake functional food products so that consumers know and do not use them.

The Food Safety Department also requested the Department of Health of provinces and cities, the Department of Food Safety of Ho Chi Minh City, the Food Safety Management Board of Da Nang City, and the Food Safety and Hygiene Sub-Departments of provinces and cities to strengthen post-inspection of fake and poor quality food.

Currently, the Ministry of Health is coordinating with relevant ministries and branches to advise the Government to issue a Decree amending and supplementing Decree No. 15/2018/ND-CP.

The revised decree will supplement regulations to enhance product quality and safety and enhance the effectiveness of state management.
