The Department of Cinema requested Netflix and FPT Play to remove the movie "Going with the Wind" because it contains the image of the "cow tongue line"

The Department of Cinema has just sent Official Dispatch No. 870/DA-VP to Netflix Company and Official Dispatch No. 871/DA-VP to FPT Telecommunication Joint Stock Company with the content requesting to remove the movie "Flight to you".

Image of illegal "cow tongue line" appears in the movie "Go with the Wind"

The Department of Cinema said it has reviewed and inspected all content of films produced in China.

The results of testing 39 episodes of the popular series "Going with the Wind" on the Netflix website and Netflix app showed that the image of the "cow tongue line" appeared on the map in many scenes.

Specifically, it is in episodes 18, 19, 21, 24, 25, 26, 27, and 38. Episode 30 clearly shows the "cow tongue line" from 2 minutes to 2 minutes and 3 seconds. In addition, there is also a dialogue and subtitle "One day this map will go to many places in the world " from 41 minutes and 18 seconds to 41 minutes and 55 seconds of episode 18.

"The depiction of the nine-dash line and the content in the dialogue and subtitles as mentioned above in the film is incorrect, infringes on Vietnam's national sovereignty and violates the provisions of Point d, Clause 1, Article 9 of the Cinema Law No. 05/2022/QH15" - The Cinema Department emphasized in an official dispatch sent to Netflix.

In an official dispatch sent to FPT Telecommunication Joint Stock Company, the Department of Cinema said it had received information reflecting on the company's dissemination of the movie "Huong Gio Ma Di" via the FPT Play domain name and FPT Play application to users in Vietnam.

The results of the review and inspection showed that FPT Telecom Joint Stock Company blurred the map images in many scenes of the movie "Going with the Wind" in episodes 18, 19, 21, 24, 25, 26, 27, 30, and 38.

However, the Cinema Department affirmed that this film has incorrect content, violates Vietnam's national sovereignty and is therefore not suitable for distribution in Vietnam.

Therefore, in the two above-mentioned documents, the Department of Cinema requested Netflix Company to remove the movie "Huong Gio Ma Di" from the Netflix domain name and Netflix application; requested FPT Telecommunication Joint Stock Company to remove the movie "Huong Gio Ma Di" from the FPT Play domain name and FPT Play application according to the provisions of Clause 2, Article 15 of Decree No. 131/2022/ND-CP of the Government detailing a number of articles of the Law on Cinema.

Implementation time is within 24 hours from 0:00 on July 10 and a written report on implementation results must be sent to the Department of Cinema before July 12.

Previously, the image of the "cow tongue line" appeared many times in the movie "Going with the Wind" causing the audience to express outrage and call for a boycott of the above Chinese movie.

Director of the Cinema Department Vi Kien Thanh said on July 8 that he had grasped this information and was verifying it. Because the film has 39 episodes, the Department had to divide it into 4 groups to watch it in order to have an accurate assessment.

A few days ago, the movie "Barbie" was banned from showing in Vietnam by the Cinema Department because it contained the image of the "cow tongue line".
