The Department of Grassroots Culture requested verification of the cannon shooting incident at Hue's Flag Tower.

The document stated that through State management monitoring work in localities, information was received from the press about the organization of cannon firing on the evening of May 3 at the Hue Flag Tower by the Hue Monuments Conservation Center.

The Department of Grassroots Culture, Family and Library requested the Department of Culture and Sports of Hue City to verify relevant information and inspect the organization of the above event in implementing legal regulations on organizing fireworks displays according to the provisions of Decree No. 137/2020/ND-CP dated November 27, 2020 of the Government regulating the management and use of fireworks and Decree No. 56/2023/ND-CP dated July 24, 2023 of the Government amending and supplementing a number of articles of Decree No. 137.

In case of detecting violations of the law, the Department of Culture and Sports of Hue City is requested to proactively handle them according to its authority.

The leader of Hue Department of Culture and Sports said that after receiving the document, they conducted inspection steps and will report to relevant levels.

Earlier, on the evening of May 3, an unfortunate technical incident occurred at the Nguyen Dynasty cannon firing simulation performance at the Hue Flag Tower area. A series of burning fireworks fell into the area where hundreds of spectators were standing watching, causing many people to panic. Fortunately, no one was injured after the incident.

After this incident, the Hue Monuments Conservation Center sent an apology and hoped to receive sympathy from the affected people and tourists.

According to the Hue Monuments Conservation Center, the cause of this incident was due to some unexpected technical problems such as the early installation of equipment and fireworks a day in advance. This affected the quality of the fireworks when fired, in addition to the calculation of the firing range and the zoning of the area where tourists can watch was not really thorough.
