Thai Nguyen veterans rejoice with special publication of Nhan Dan Newspaper

NDO - On the morning of April 30, along with the whole country, the people of all ethnic groups in Thai Nguyen province, the former Safe Zone, were jubilant and proud of their contributions of human and material resources to liberate the South and unify the country half a century ago. Students from several schools, especially veterans, recalled 50 years ago when they joined the troops in marching into Saigon when reading the special edition of Nhan Dan Newspaper released on this important anniversary.

Celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day, in Thai Nguyen province, from urban to rural areas, mountainous areas, remote areas, all over the roads, both sides are lined with Party flags and national flags fluttering, everyone is proud of the great victory of the nation.

On the morning of April 30, the usually crowded Thai Nguyen City became deserted. From early morning, people gathered at cultural centers, institutions, and service establishments to watch live television broadcasts of the grand ceremony, parade, and march to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and the reunification of the country. Everyone was happy and proud of the renewal of their homeland and country; life was improving day by day, and now Thai Nguyen no longer has any families living in temporary houses.

Students from some schools, young people born when the war was far away, had more understanding about the whole picture, the main events of the last days of April 1975 and a lot of other information leading to the total victory day of April 30, 1975 when receiving the special publication of Nhan Dan Newspaper.

Teacher Luc Thuy Hang, Principal of Viet Bac High School, which educates nearly 2,000 ethnic minority students from Quang Binh and beyond, was moved along with the students when receiving the special publication of Nhan Dan Newspaper, sharing: “The publication has 8 large pages, eye-catching presentation, providing very modern historical information, using technology, so young people are excited to receive it. Thereby, contributing to historicaleducation for students”.

The special edition of Nhan Dan Newspaper made veteran Ma Thi Lan in Hoang Van Thu ward, Thai Nguyen city "relive" the days of serving and fighting in late April 1975.

On the morning of April 30, a number of veterans who participated in the Ho Chi Minh campaign, now residing in Hoang Van Thu ward, Thai Nguyen city, wore red shirts with yellow stars on their chests, and watched the live broadcast of the anniversary, parade, and march on a large screen on Bac Son street. Watching the live broadcast, the veterans were extremely proud of the great victory of the nation to which they had contributed, the heroic atmosphere of the great festival, and were even more moved when receiving the special publication of Nhan Dan Newspaper issued on this important anniversary.

When seeing the map of the capture of the Independence Palace printed in a special issue of Nhan Dan Newspaper, many veterans recalled with emotion half a century ago when they were in the liberation army on Thong Nhat Avenue (now Le Duan Street) entering the Independence Palace, the enemy's last stronghold.

Veteran Ma Thi Lan served in combat and fought in the southern battlefield from August 1974 until after the total victory, now residing in Group 4, Hoang Van Thu Ward, Thai Nguyen City, shared: “I am proud to be a soldier of Uncle Ho who contributed to the victory half a century ago. Today, I am very moved to receive a special publication of Nhan Dan Newspaper, reminding me of the last days of April 1975 with the fiery spirit of the liberation army, including my small figure in the victorious army that year”.

During the resistance war against the US to save the country, Thai Nguyen had more than 48 thousand people enlisted, tens of thousands of young volunteers joined the battlefields, of which nearly 7,800 people fell for the Fatherland, nearly 7,800 people left part of their blood and bones on the battlefields.
