On the morning of March 30, a representative of Military Hospital 175 informed that male patient VVT (42 years old, residing in District 12, Ho Chi Minh City) after 3 weeks of treatment had recovered his health and was eligible for discharge.
Previously, the patient was transferred to the Emergency Department of Military Hospital 175 in a state of lethargy, low blood pressure and stuck. Doctors determined that the patient had 5 wounds in the chest and abdomen; small intestine and greater omentum were exposed; there was a suspected heart wound.
Immediately, a red alert (Code Red) was activated. Doctors from many specialties coordinated to treat the patient's injuries.
Colonel, Dr. Tran Van Thao, Head of the Department of Abdominal Surgery, said that the patient had complex injuries, a large heart wound, and a lot of blood loss, but the two puncture wounds in the diaphragm accidentally caused blood from the pericardial cavity to flow into the abdomen, contributing to reducing acute cardiac tamponade. This was fortunate enough to help this person get to the emergency room in time.
Every year, Military Hospital 175 receives 6-10 cases related to knife stabs, most of which can be saved if emergency treatment is given promptly.
