Dalat in the movie Youth Journey |
A large film studio at every street corner, house roof, grass bank, flower wall, stone slope, pine forests, lakes, waterfalls... every angle of the camera creates a picture without dead angles, bearing the mark of wild beauty, heritage, famous landscapes, architecture, and indigenous cultural identity.
Every year, Lam Dong Department of Culture - Sports and Tourism has received and created conditions for hundreds of film crews to choose Lam Dong's setting to make films, television, advertising, and music works, creating many famous works such as: Glorious Years, 100 Days with You, Love Slope, Lavender Scent of That Year, Murder Lens, You and Trinh, Youth Journey...
Watching the movie, the audience will be stunned by the wild beauty of the towering pine forests hidden by ancient villas and the vast hills of wild flowers in the movie Heavenly Wind (director Lam Le Dung - 2005). The audience will also be moved by the scene of musician Trinh Cong Son holding the hand of his lover and dancing on the steps on the slope facing Xuan Huong Lake on Tran Hung Dao Street like dancing a waltz on the piano keys in the afternoon in the movie You and Trinh (director Phan Gia Nhat Linh - 2022). It is even more impossible not to be haunted by the seasons of purple phoenix flowers spreading across the land, the seasons of dandelions dyeing the green grass banks bright yellow, and the brilliant hydrangeas in the movies 100 Days With You (director Vu Ngoc Phuong - 2018), When in Love, Don't Turn Back (director Nguyen Vo Nghiem Minh - 2009), Suitcase of Love (directors Le Quang Thanh Tam, Hoang Bui - 2017)...
Cinematographic works vividly record the moments of the day, the seasons of the year, the beautiful flower seasons, the hills, the pine forests, the red and yellow images of the sunset sky, the quiet villa windows next to the flower trellis, the smoke coming from the baked egg cakes, the banh can on the sidewalk... have brought Da Lat far away, promoting the beauty of the land and people of this place to friends around the world. There are too many tourists who have come to Da Lat just to walk through the pine forests, the flower hills, sitting under the window of the ancient villa where the characters in the film once walked through and sat.
With the affirmation that cinema contributes significantly to promoting tourism development; the Provincial People's Committee and the Department of Culture have paid special attention and created the most favorable conditions for investors to come to Da Lat - Lam Dong to build large film studios, and offered incentives for filmmakers to come and film and take backgrounds. According to statistics, in 2022 alone, Da Lat - Lam Dong welcomed 130 film crews.
At the 13th Vietnam Film Festival, the People's Committee of Lam Dong province issued the criteria for awarding the "Lam Dong - Majestic Plateau" award to an excellent film set in Lam Dong - Da Lat, demonstrating special interest and affection for the development of the country's cinema. Through this activity, the province hopes that filmmakers will continue to develop content ideas and continuously produce good films about this beautiful land, contributing to introducing and promoting the beauty of Lam Dong land and people to the public.
Mr. Tran Thanh Hoai - Deputy Director of Lam Dong Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism expressed: "Lam Dong is not rich and luxurious in economy, but rich in culture. We consider film crews as tourists coming to Da Lat, as guests, we are welcomed kindly, given the best conditions, and supported to help filmmakers complete their scenes. People often call film crews "troublesome crews" as young director Phan Gia Nhat Linh said, but we hope to be... bothered. We are proud to be bothered by film crews. We really hope that film crews will come to Da Lat to bother us more".
Director, Meritorious Artist Phi Tien Son shared: “I am very touched by the affection of the government, cultural managers and people of Lam Dong for film crews and film creators. It has been a long time since I felt such warm and affectionate actions towards filmmakers. I will return to Da Lat to film many scenes in the near future for film projects.”
Along with natural landscapes, cultural heritage, land and people, Da Lat is forever a great film studio, a place that inspires endless inspiration for Vietnamese cinema.
